So I'm having a bit of a turf algae issue. It's not in plague proportions, but none the less it has to go. This is a coral tank so I need a reef safe solution. Removing and scrubbing rock is a no go as well, I have about 140 lbs of rock, but the rock consists of 5 large pieces, all of which are covered with attached corals, and 3 smaller rocks, which also have attached coral.

Also should add that it's an 80 rimless so another tang isn't an option. Added 2 mollies a week ago as well, they aren't touching it. Tried turbos as well, same result

I have never had a member of the CUC eat it. I have taken epoxy and flattened it out like a pancake, applied it to areas and left in place for a week or more, that will not be a practical method if you have a lot though.

John at Reefcleaners has some recommendations on his site though:

Urchins are good, but they do love to destroy scapes.. Lol. My tuxedo is currently carrying around a frag of Darth Mauls and I'm just too lazy to stick my arm in the tank to get it off. Lol

Yea true, they will munch up that stuff, but are way worse than Turbo Snails as far as destruction.

Well, I put a seahare in today. Set it right on top of the turf, I swear it actually turned and gave me the "what is this crap look"...

Honestly it doesn't appear so. It's only been 12 hours or so since I put it in so I will check in the morning to see if there is any change.

Strange. Yea, give him a bit, they usually wipe it up in no time.

Oh jeez, you got a picky one, you have got to be kidding me...thats just crazy.
