I use it more for feeding. I'm apparently 1 of 3 that voted no. I thought there would be more. I usually direct the power heads to smash the rocks with blasts of water. Far more efficient and I don't have to keep my hands in the tank for very long.

I currently use a baster, however I recently heard the idea of using a spray bottle top without the tube or bottle.

I will put fresh filter socks on, turn my Vortech's on Nutrient Transport Mode at a 90% and blast my rock work with the turkey baster once a week. The corals seem to love it and it removes a large amount of detritus in a short period of time. Water clears in just a few minutes with the NTM mode going on the powerheads.

A turkey baster is one of the cheapest and most useful things I have purchased for my reef. I use it to clean my rockwork about twice a week and every water change with some filter socks to catch all the nasty stuff.

Hi! I use my turkey baster for blowing detritus off rocks, feeding mysis to my fish, feeding mysis broth to filter feeders and getting tank water
Into a bag of new fish or coral! Its my #1 favorte tool!

I do use the baste as many do...I also use a power head, or a Korelia head unit and blow off the harder to reach areas....

I have a jaebo wp25 behind my rocks to always keep water flowing back there...

does this cause any nitrates spikes

In my 120 that I run bare bottom and high flow I do not have any nitrates or spikes after I blow the rocks off. I am actually trying to get some nitrate since I am keeping SPS and so far it's not working. I have tested for nitrate with a red sea pro kit 15-30 minutes after blowing the rock off and the test always shows 0. So in my system I can say I do not get any spikes and I blow my rock off daily.

I Turkey baster my rocks twice a day. [emoji23]

My rock stays clean at end times to help keep phosphates down.

My tunze 9001 works great at collecting all the crap in the water.

I have a 40B so using a powerhead is not necessary but would use one if I had a larger system. I have a few dead spots behind my rock work and use the turkey baster about 3x per week to blow detritus out of the rock work. Very satisfying to see my skimmers activity ramp up immediately after doing this.
