Thawing food now, I'll let you know. He stays completely hidden 90% of the time, and when he comes out its only his head. Other wise I have no clue what condition he's in...
No go on the feeding. Had a few issues with the tank that I corrected tho. Issue one, too much rock for Maui to hide in. So much rock, he stays hidden all the time and never comes out. Not even when I put food in the tank. So, I removed some rock and rearranged what I left in. Here's how it looks now.
Yea, I know not much there. It's a 14g tank, and one of the back chambers is full of marine pure. Yes, I also know it's full of GHA... I'm leaving it for the urchin. I might put a small bag of GFO in the back, but for now I'm just going to do water changes. 50% is easy on this tank... it's right around 6 gallons.
Maui is way more active now, I haven't seen this much of him since I moved him over here. Hopefully I can get him eating again tomorrow maybe...
Issue two, the return pump had sucked itself up to the side of the tank and was barely pumping any flow thru the tank. I repositioned the pump so it won't do that again.
Still not wanting to eat. He's been much more active since removing some of the rock, but still has a cave where he can hide. He wouldn't eat when I put the squid in with the tongs, so I put it in my two little fishies veggie mag... maybe he'll take it if I'm not hovering over the tank.
He checked it out for a minute, then ignored it. The shrimp came over and pecked at it some, now everyone is leaving it alone. I'll pull it out in a few hours if it's there.
As long as the fish are larger than the eel, it should be fine. This one was eating frozen squid very well, then he decided he would rather eat all my fish. I'm trying to get him to eat the squid again.
Tried feeding Maui again today. No luck... I know he hasn't eaten anything since going in this tank. I'm going to leave the squid in the tank over night and see if he'll take it then. That is if the shrimp doesn't eat it first... I may have go find some silver sides somewhere to try a different food. He used to get so excited about squid, thats why im having a hard time with this.
