Been looking at getting a urchin what are yalls thoughs good bad and ugly never had one i have corals do they pick them up would like some insight

I love mine and the work it does. even if sometimes he gets on my nerves by taking poorly or not glued frags. If one day it disappears... I'll put another one! It's a must have in my opinion.

My lfs was selling a tiny ora one for $48.50 ..i just walked out lol tuxedos ate good though they dont get huge but will carry small stuff for sure

Should i just get one for my 36 gallon
If you want! You need to do your research first, but I think that will be a great option for your tank!

Love them. Had to knock a red leg hermit off of one that was using him as camouflage today. I dont see why more than one is a problem. I keep two in a smaller system.

I have 3 tuxedo urchins, a purple urchin and a black urchin. All pick up all kinds of baggage on their backs - turbo snails, hermit crabs, large pieces of caroline algue that break off.... but never knock glued down frags. I saw that someone actually got a mini sombrero and put that on their urchin's back - too funny. Great addition to most tanks, especially if you have fish that like to eat other algae eaters like snails.

Depends on size too. I got mine from algae barn, captive bred, so small.

Go for it! I have a 40g and have 3 urchins - 1 tuxedo and 2 purple pin cushions. One of the purple ones was a hitchhiker on some live rock from TBS. They are all over the tank and do a great job keeping algae under control. Do they pick things up? Yes. Is it horrible? No. And - I have never had them pick up a whole frag. If you don't have all your frags glued down like I do, they tend to only tip them over - not pick up and drag around. They are more entertaining than a nuisance really.

Haha i have one and hes pretty cool. Currently has a ton of stuff all over it. Does a pretty good job cleaning stuff though.

I recently got one and he’s doing a great job. He hasn’t picked up any not glued frags yet but has put sand and hair algae on himself. I recommend.

Been a great workhorse for my tank. Just make sure you have your frags properly glued down. Mine recently pulled one of my sps frags that I thought was glued down, and just last night almost ripped a bounce mushroom in half. It Literally had it almost completely wrapped around itself.
