Ha, MUST go through crap before it will get better, Im currently finding that out in my QT......ugh

I will say this, there aren't many people who build and wire things to my standards.. heck, the people who work for me find it frustrating haha. However, you have done an amazing job and I give it my stamp of approval.

@ngoodermuth thanks for the likes. As far as the bed goes, would you remove it? and add a dish instead? currently my QT2 is on round two of praziopro, due to my flukes one fish brough in. Do you think i should run a third round of prazipro with the dish, to be absolute the fluke are gone?

It’s up to you, Humble ran some experiments with sand in a QT and the results were surprisingly negligible change in copper levels with a small amount of sand (would make sure it’s no more than an inch or two).

Live rock however, is another story. I would avoid any type of porous rock or materials as these will most definitely cause fluctuations.

Ya I read his whole article. And with your and others advice, to be safe I'm going to remove it and put a glassware in before I start copper. Keep it to a minimum.

What about Marine blocks? Sorry meant to ask that earlier @ngoodermuth

I would avoid marine blocks. It’s ok to use a sponge in your filter to help house beneficial bacteria, but the marine blocks are going to soak up copper, too. I usually try to stick with barebones PVC, at least until treatments are done.

@ngoodermuth would you redo praziopro? As marine blocks could make that ineffective? Or is that only copper

As long as you didn’t have carbon or something like that running, the prazi should be fine. I’ve used it in full blown reef tanks successfully.

The rule is mostly for copper, but antibiotics and CP can also be less effective with live rock and too much of a bio-filter.

it is a good rule of thumb to assume that any medications will be affected in some way with any rockblocks or sand. i would remove all but pvc and for now if the fish in the qt look good i would just wait and see but if you want another round of prazi will not hurt them (fyi)

So I've removed all substrate, except a glass bowl of it for royal pencil. Once my Hanna Copper checker shows up, I'm starting that, for 30 days i guess. As my other qt has occupants. Then I'll do another round of Praziopro I'm thinking.

Also found, that I had received a fault salinity probe from Neptune. I'm currently sending it back to them and they are replacing it .

two things
with the probes make sure you calibrate them, sometimes 2 times and also make sure you wiggle them in the water initially and every once in a while as a bubble sometimes get caught and throw the values like my example below: (sometimes it errors high and others it can error low)
however i also had a bad probe and they replaced it asap so it was also a good experience
don't run copper in both QT's, use one for copper and one for no meds as once you run copper in it you can not put corals and inverts in that tank (dont know if you are just wanted to make sure)

@scott11106 yep, I'm running one with nothing in it. QT1 currently has three frags. QT2 houses all the fish. Im running copper for them, 30days total, unless I transfer fish at 14 days into frag tank?
After copper run massive water changes and charcoal to get rid of copper to be certain? Or do I have to do a complete tear down and vingar/bleach to be certain ich is gone?

And in my 220 DT I'm leaving it fishes for 76 days, to be sure nothing is hiding on snails or crabs. Does that sound about right?

phosphate 0.03
nitrate 0.02
nitrite 16
cal 493
dkh 6.7
ammonia over 3ppm?

I have hanna ammonia checker. ramge 0 - 3.-00, and its reading 3.00 flashing which im assuming means its higher. Does this suggest bacteria levels still are not high enough? I applied Seed, as directed from bottle for first seven days. Used Marco dry rock, dry sand. Currently ghost feed every day. Tank is on day 23 cycling.

Also i added a few snails and crabs few days ago, is this an issue with high Ammonia?

side question, What is considered high Nitrite in a tank?

Had bubbles on mine too. Also, make sure you have the temperature compensation turned on. For some reason it was off on mine, and my salinity reading was going up and down in sync with the temperature. Turned it on and now its showing a nice fairly stable level.

in my opinion, when your fish are ready you can put them in, but up to you..
i leave my qt up and running 24/7 but if i encounter ICH or other diseases i will tear it down and let it dry and start again as i dont even want a chance of having any issues

it was not real, it was a bubble i belive, once i wiggled the probe it went back to normal

What about the crabs and snails? Should i move them into frag tank?

This photo was few days ago. Just a mild haze of diatoms on glass. But nothing noticeably browning on rocks or substrate.
Seems aquavitro seed, was a poor choice for me to start with for bacteria....
