Tyler's 220 gallon in wall build thread!

Hard to see. But starting to see 1/4" round brown circles appearing in one of my QT tanks. On elastcics, pipe and glass. Is this Diatoms?

hard to tell but i would guess so, what is your status of your cycles for qt and main display?

So this is currently in QT.

1- bimaculatus anthias
2- priemium snowflake clowns

Wrasses=
1-yellow fin
1-red head solon
2- yellow coris
3-royal pencil (1 M, 2 F)
3-pylei (1 M, 2 F)

hard to tell but i would guess so, what is your status of your cycles for qt and main display?

Spots are more predominate now in my qt1. Started cycling display mar 19, seeding and ghost feeding. O phosphates and 0 nitrates.

Qt1 is only tank with phosphate level of 0.03, everything else is zero in both.
My QT tanks have both been running for about a month now.

Do I clean the diatom or let it go? I'm doing weekly 20% water changes.

Also to note, I have to do a FW dip on one wrasse tonight. I post photos in diagnosis forum. And had some staff members thinking it is Flukes.......****. I guess this is why we QT. Now if that's the cause, I need to start medicating General Cure into both QT's.

I was about to start coppering, but got nervous about it because I have no way of reading levels. And I've never dosed it before, so I've been researching people ways of doing so without killing everything. Which I'm still slightly confused about doses and how recommend amounts on bottle not to follow....

Any idea what causes a spike like this? My cor 20s have been pretty solid in their fluctuation, except I saw this today? Both IQs are set 5%-68%. If that makes any difference. Good flow for only 68% percent I think. But no idea what us with the spike.

Man what an epic build! That controller board is straight up gorgeous. Question, and I apologize if this has been stated already, but where did you get the 90° plugs for everything to go into the eb832s?

They come in different length sets, or singles. Shout out to @scott11106 who linked me to these, as he is as anal with how thing looks as I am lol. Another fantastic build to also check out if any of you have time ;)

dont worry about things like that as the sensors and meters sometimes throw false data, if it happens with any frequency then i would watch the equipment (ie return pump) real close as it might have a manufacturer defect or bad connection ect but unless you see it occur more often i would not worry

also the flow through the uv seems a bit low, not that it matters as lower flow keeps the water in the uv chamber longer but i run mine at about 300. just an observation

Ya data has only spiked once ever. I was guessing it was nothing but wanted to ask.
Ya, UV is off, I just have all valves open and free flowing from right side cor20 for cycling. Once I turn it on for operation, I'll divert more flow through it for faster turn around. At that point I may bump cor20's up past there set point of 68%, to achieve more flow

sorry for my delay on this as work has been nuts...
yes medicate and keep covered, error on the side of less copper and you will be fine and make sure any equipment and tools and towels and anything are marked as QT tools so you dont cross contaminate.

once your cycle is done i would clean off any algae but i am pretty anal

Here are some current photos, and some I hadn't gotten around to posting.

Rodi reservoir with opticals for automation and alarms. And three PMUP

Salt res optical for notifying me when res is low. Cuts in pipe are 5G inkermints. Gravity feed down from RODI reservoir.

Sump utility light, aswell also grow like for chatoe. Grate to hold back chatoe from baffle.

My designed platform in photo shown for my maintenance, otherwise it's out away. Only way I can reach down into 30" deep tank.

Picture off my work bench, and some other photos I've just taken. With photo of current livestock in QT2. QT1 might have some guests after this weekend ;)

love it all !!!!
your not going to want the sand or poris media in the qt as it will all absorb the chemicals that you put in to QT so i would pull that all out im sorry to say because it looks so good. you can leave it in if you are not going to medicate...

other than that it is purely awesome and i think you have done a great job, to be honest, i think i like some things you did better than mine

Only reason I have sand bed in that QT is because the royal pencil wrasses dig down at night, and when I got them they had just landed and super stressed. I didn't want to make stress any worse so I put the bed in

A small amount of sand isn’t as bad as live rock, as far as absorbing copper and medications.

But, I usually just put a container of sand rather than coat the entire floor, they find it pretty quickly :)

Very nice build!

thanks for the likes. As far as the bed goes, would you remove it? and add a dish instead? currently my QT2 is on round two of praziopro, due to my flukes one fish brough in. Do you think i should run a third round of prazipro with the dish, to be absolute the fluke are gone?
