I'd just like to add another perspective to the cycle opinions... As the BRS guys have mentioned in a couple videos they like to cycle their tank (as do I) the way it will be running in three to six months from day one. While this might not constitute running something like carbon or phosphate removal media (which I use periodically when I see problems or want to clean up the tank a bit) I would argue you should try and run all equipment you will eventually be running from the beginning. If you want to avoid algae problems the easiest answer is to keep your lights off until everything is stable. However this also slows down "aging" the rock so it looks older. Stuff like algae, coralline, and sponges are all things I have found beneficial in my setup. With that said I have yet to wait a full six months (or whatever crazy amount these people suggest) to put fish, corals, and anemones in my tank and have had no issues. Whenever I begin seeing coralline growth I give myself the green light for livestock. I would credit this to all the great equipment we have available to us today that keeps our tanks stable and happy. Additionally, no matter what kind of rock you use and quarantine methods you attempt different types of algae will make it into your system somehow or another. The key is stable and balanced nutrient levels (I.E. balanced nitrates and phosphates). Obviously this advice is something you have likely already heard but I figure it doesn't hurt to mention.

Anyways, great build and will be following along. Looks like you have really went all out from the beginning of the process. This is a build many of us could only dream to do.

sand is safe just use quality sand but it will not negatively affect your tank. i dont know if you have purchased your rock but REEL reef rock is also extremely safe as it is man made so not pests but has bacteria so it is great, it is what i have used on my tanks. By doing this your cycles will be fast and minimal. =fish and coral faster
do what you feel best but I do not have that patience and it is safe as far as hitchhikers go, its not like the live rock/sand purchased in the past from LFS that who knows where it came from and what it is...just my two cents

I'm using Marco reef saver dry rock. And I'm going to use dry sand. After thinking about it. I dont really have a choice but to wait for display levels to fall in parameters. As I plan to QT everything anyway, which I guess will make me wait anyway.
As you've noticed, I dont currently have patience lol and want it up and running, then I can be patient. After this past weekend display, sump and both QT are almost fully plumbed. Wiring I plan on starting withing next week or so. Just waiting on cable raceway, so it will be clean looking. Also next is planning all Neptune product on my control board. I think it's really going to look fantastic. Photos will follow soon.

cant wait to see the progress, it is looking great and it will be amazing when complete, just be ready as if you use dry rock and dry sand you may be well into a 2+month cycle(best case) before adding anything as it all (of course you can add things very fast and might be ok but i would not rush it as it tends to cause issues)

Off hand I cant recall bacteria they gave me at the LFS. But I had assumed 5-6 weeks for cycling from everything I've read and watch.
Also, as mentioned about Dr Tim's, I am now very intrigued about just using his product for getting QT up and going and likewise for display. I'm now on the fence of what to do really. As it seems that product is fantastic, aside from the price to get it to me in Southern Ontario for an arm and a leg with our ****** dollar, and shipping.

i dont know about that product but i used fritz turbo and had my QT up and fish in it in a couple days, works great, i also used it in my main display but waited 30 days before adding my 2 started fish, however i used live rock, live sand and added fritz turbo and oceanmagik phytoplankton so it cycled fast

sounds great to me, that is sort of what i did but i ghost fed the tank for 30 days then added fish but sounds like i did not need to do that..lol

UPDATE.

Although I'll be done all my plumbing soon. I'd figured a photo or two now. And I'll post more photos once I'm completely done my plumbing. So a photo here of my RODI and my Neptune control board now mounted up and ready for the goods

- Neptune flow meter cord be extended? Using?
-Neptune optical sensors be extended?
-can cor 20 pump be extended between driver and pump?

Not a big deal if they cant. But would be awesome if possible to help keep things clean.

no the wires cannot be extended, if anything you can move the FMM closer and extend the aquabus(usb) cable

Question about doing bean animal overflow.
-My main syphon I was going to put at 3/4" off bottom of overflow. Secondary 1 1/2" off bottom. Does that sound about right?
-Am I suppose to admit air into top of secondary? What height is that tube?

yes, that sounds ok, dont glue them as you will want to play around with then to find the sweet spot with the least noise, then later you can glue once you tune it in

What about admitting air into the secondary drain. And how do I exactly dial it in. What am I looking for specifically for my levels? Or is that a dumb question?

when your system is up and running you will raise and lower the drain to finalize the water level in the main display and then also you can move them up and down to minimize the drain noise level

yes and yes as my two drains have a drilled hole on top of the elbow, and no problem any questions that i can answer i am happy to do so. this is a very exciting time, keep the pictures coming

Does 24v power supply that comes with dos same as what a fmm needs for power when you want to use fmm to power acc port?

Also the aqua bus then is what powers dos?correct? Ya man, @scott11106 your a huge help
