I think you can get something a lot better. cameras aren't something I tend to go cheap on. too many precise parts and lenses that need to be high quality. spend the extra money and youll be happy in the long run.

what exactly is that extension for? its not a lense itsself but an extension for it? how does that work? so you can zoom with a macro lens?

Avoid the extension tubes. If you really want to do macro get a dedicated macro.
A dSlr and a macro is all you really need. But if your a camera noob it can be a big learning curve. If you have the cash go for it. I suggested the smaller cameras as the curve isn't as steep.
I only say these things because I'm a photographer an teach photography.

focus stacking of corals will be almost impossible, there needs to be absolute zero movement otherwise it will just blur out which defeats the object.

one of the most important things with taking photo's through glass is to make sure you are square to the glass, any angle and it won't matter if you have a $10k body with a $10k lens it will blur the image.
also....try turning off as much light that is behind you as possible to eliminate reflection or get a rubber lens hood so you can sit the lens on the glass and not scratch it
macro tubes IMO would be a good investment as they pull the focal point closer to the lens without affecting the image, probably best used on a 50mm prime rather than a 55-250mm, disadvantage to this is you will need more light and you may lose auto focus (although i find manual focus is better) depending on what make you get

Yea I know. I'm a photographer that's how I shoot watches.
Macro tubes also create a fixed focal point makes it hard to use IMO. You can have mine. Look at the tamron 90mm on eBay best auto macro for the least cash. canons beacause of how theyre made more readily accept adapters so you can get a nikin to canon adapter. the 55 mm nikon micro is a dime a dozen 50 to 80 for a good one. Manual focus thought.
