pic with sweepers retracted

There not completely in but mine has that same body color but has colored eyes. I would say its the real deal if it came from the colony posted. And I seen the growth has been really well and that also is known about the MM/PP as most other chalices grow much slower

I know chalice can get bleached or morph it is acclimating to captivity first time from the ocean. But this coral have been through many hands for 4 years atleast...keep feedback coming guys

I know i got mine in a one eye frag about 4 months ago. It was a yellow is white ish body with red eyes. ?Now 4 months later it is coming around it has a gray ish body with a orange eye with a yellow ring around it. So i would say what baycoral says try moving in higher light. Also keep in mind guys he is blasting it with LED/attinics from what the pics looks like makes it look a tad bit diffrent to.

There is no LED or actinics what so ever...It is 12000k 250 w ReefLUX on coralvue single. I wouldnt move it higher in a light because in 24x24 i probably can grow acros on the bottom with all the multiple reflections + lumenbright...Flow is high too...Also this frag have been trained for all out sweepers by daily feeding(growth contribution as well)

definitely not miami hurricane greg...hope the seller does right

Vince amazing zoa you posted on your forum...can you put me down for a frag of it

So what would be a final opinion guys...

what more do you want to hear? The vendor you bought it from even replied in this thread with a wyiswyg pic of your exact frag you purchased. It's a miami hurricane that morphed in your system; corals do that sometimes....

You can try more lighting options. If low light doesn't work, try high light. The wysiwyg picture you purchased doesn't have the blue base, but it seem like you were able to get some of the original coloration back. I think you can recover this piece to it's full original potential.

Friend, thank you for for input...I have been keeping this type of coral for a while and aware of the circumstances when it can change its color due to bleaching...I appreciate Gary posting here after i brought this thread to his attention...How ever im not convinced that there is no chance of mistake at RP with the shear volume of coral fragged and sold there...
Coral grew to it natural colors already, it is a very healthy frag and i have to believe to my eyes at this point

Hombre, very nice to hear you have extensive experience with these delicate organisms. Your frag does look very healthy to me as well. I got a MH from a VERY reputable person, and I'm currently keeping it in sub-par lighting conditions and it looks nothing like a "real" MH right now either. I would just play around with placement a bit and see if you can get better colors out of it that way. All of you corals look very good in that pic you posted.

Not much coral posted really lol, well, im not a drama type and trust Gary on this one as well...I will repost more pictures in few month for all of us to see the progress

I am VERY interested in seeing the progress as well. The frag that you have has some of the best base color I have seen for a Miami Hurricane. But, you are correct, the eyes are not the correct color. Even in the frag photo from when you purchased it the eyes were the correct color.
I do keep the colony in a low light and medium flow area, it still seems to change color often.
I do guarantee it 110 percent with lineage directly to Tyree. I just started carrying more chalice but when you purchased the chalice I did not have more than a hand full of different chalice in stock. To this day I do not have anything that would be mistaken for the Miami Hurricane.
Keep in mind that I do guarantee it and if you feel that it is not the Miami Hurricane I will take it back, I would love to have it.
Gary
