UABSleeper Red Sea Reefer 350 build!

Are those metal valves? Curious if the are reef safe.

You had me a little worried if in my gate valve was metal or not I had never even considered if the part in contact with water is metal so I had to do a little more research.. looks like the only part on the gate valve that's metal is screw holding the wheel on.. at least that's the only thing that a magnet will stick to.. the actual knob may be aluminum it's non magnetic and coated so not to concerned about that.

here is a picture of the valve stem and the actual valve from the outlet side..

Nice looking setup! I live just a few minutes north of Birmingham.

Nice looking setup! I live just a few minutes north of Birmingham.

Awesome I lived on hwy 280 there for several years while I was in anesthesia school! Great place beautiful town just to busy for me when I finished I had to get back to Mississippi! Reef live aquariums is who really got me into the saltwater hobby!

The custom lid is certainly more $$, but it's hard to compare the look. The Reefer tanks are so nice looking, I decided to bit the bullet. Quality is good. The lid is very light, but strong. It's easy to remove for tank maintenance. I was referring to the red gate valves.

New fish arrived today a beautiful male melanurus wrasse

On a down note looks like my coral beauty is not doing so hot.. I'm thinking it may have a flat worms or ich not sure which he has several spots on the side of his face..

He is still eating some right now so going to try to feed up the garlic in his food.. hopefully he will get over it

Finally broke down and bought an apex! Been wanting one of these for a while!

More equipment means more wires.. wires drive me nuts so I decided to build a stand to hide everything and mount my probes to.. here is what I came up with!

It has a door so I can access cables it turned out a little thicker than i intended but I think it will work!

Most of the new corals are doing great! Only one that looks like it's going to be a goner is the Hawkins ora.. looks like it has developed RTN.. I tried dipping in coralrx again.. but from everything I read their is no real hope for it..

Tank is coming along nicely! Is the rock you're using Pukani? If so did you end up curing it at all? I've got some now that iI'm building the aquascape for and i've read they can leach phosphates pretty bad.

Thanks! Yes I used pukani.. not sure if I got lucky or what I did cure it in salt water for a month with carbon.. also I broke up a lot of the rock when I was making my scape and was able to clean out some of the critters on the inside.. I think that was

I also ran gfo and carbon after the cycle in order to remove any that might be released.. so far my Hanna checker has read 0.00

Just curious, did you choose to not quarantine your new fish? If you didn't does it worry you that one may be diseased like the Coral Beauty and spread to others?

That is awesome news! I haven't cured mine yet but fingers crossed it doesn't take too long. I'll be following along with your build :)
