Hello
I've this Jumbo Emperor in a big tank, today it seems really stressed and could be sick. Someone of you could help me to understand what is wrong with him?
I attached an image and thanks in advance

Tank parameters would be great!
How long have you had it, tank size, etc.
Whatever info you can give will help.

He looks to have good weight to him.

My first step would be to make sure that he's eating well and gets settled in a decent sized tank.

The fish is likely stressed from the move. Why do you suspect that he's sick?

Sorry guys I forgot the parameters!
The tank is 900 gallons,
Salinity 1.025
T. 30° C
pH 8.1
No Mg or Ca because I have not corals
Nitrate 46.5 Hanna checker
I have it since 1 month almost

He did not eat today, I was watching his face and, if you check the second image, it seems to have white spots on the eye

Welcome to Reef2Reef!

Can you post a video? Linking to Youtube will work. I want to check its respiration rate.

The spots could be ich - they look small, but this is a big fish and size is relative. However, mild ich does not cause a fish to stop eating. I want to rule out velvet in this case.

Here you go! Thanks for your welcome

I could only see the fish breathing for a few breaths, but it is breathing too fast. The other fish look o.k., but the angel may have a gill infection - flukes or Amyloodinium/velvet. Coppersafe would be the best way to go, but all that coral is going to absorb some of the copper, and of course, you can't use copper with invertebrates (I didn't see any though).

How long have you had this fish?
Was it eating before and now has stopped?

Jay

I've only fish inside!
For 1 month almost, he was eating until today
I think it needs to be treated with copper then. Fish that stop eating due to a disease rarely start feeding again unless some treatment is worked out.

30 Celsius (86F) is pretty warm, even though that's not likely the problem.

I might let that drop to 25 C or so.

If we are thinking velvet, then I would start Copper Power / Coppersafe immediately at full strength.

He needs to be treated for ich/flukes (he appears to have flukes). And if you can hopefully get him eating - internal parasites. If he was wild caught and not from someone's tank, a big old angelfish like that will have all kinds of internal cooties.

30C is like 86 degrees. That seems really high and maybe delepleting oxygen?

Edit: just saw someone else posted similar above.

Thanks guys for the feedbacks! I'm gonna add the copper directly on the tank, I've only fish inside btw so I'm pretty sure it will be fine

Should I do a bath to him? Just freshwater

That will work. You will want to test the copper concentration to nail the level, as any rock/sand will absorb some. I would check it daily for the first few days until you get it dialed in.

If you suspect flukes, that *can knock some off and help you diagnose as well. I would just Prazi the display. It won't do much for ich or velvet.

Read up on ionic copper treatments, as they are different then chelated copper like Copper Power or Coppersafe. According to Jay's book, 0.2 ppm is the standard concentration.
