Hey guys! I set up a ten gallon. I have been in the hobby for a long time. I want to do something unique. Any ideas??

Hmmmm

Pistol shrimp/goby tank
Macro algea tank
Nuisance algae tank
Tidepool tank
Peer tank with pillars and ship floating on top
Idk

Yea I like where you are going.

The tide pool thing sounds cool, but don’t most of the inhabitants require a good source or algae?

That’s true. The tank is next to a window. I could feed a lot. What would suggest putting in the tank?

Sally lightfoot galapagos-style tank with haul-out areas for the crabs. All black volcanic rock with rock rubble and maybe some sponges for filtration. You HAVE to build a diy wavebox for this and implement microbubbles.

That would depend on how fast you can grow algea but tube anemones, flower anemones, hermit crabs, urchins, gorilla crabs, decorator crabs, light foot and spider crabs, skys the limit

I like it. What else can I stock it with?

Sorry just saw what you posted

Can the anemones and sponges do good in low light. It’s a 24w florescent.

Could also do all rock no sand something like this to give it the look of a dissected tidepool

What’s wrong with the flame scallop? And I already have the sand in the tank. It’s fully cycled.

Here’s the tank so far.

Sand is fine just an all rock valley would have looked pretty unique and cool.

Ugh the flame scallop, long history there. They are non photosynthetic and require a ton of food per day like many non photosynthetic corals. Even with the best of care they don't live past a couple months in captivity and are one of those species that are just best left out at sea. I don't think there has ever been a case of someone actually keeping one long term.

I saw somewhere that you can have some of the rock sticking out of the water. Why would someone do that.
