Unique nano ideas (NO CORAL)

I saw somewhere that you can have some of the rock sticking out of the water. Why would someone do that.
It adds an interesting design element. This is popular in freshwater planted tanks fairly recently. Also, some crabs and snails like to get out of the water sometimes. It would certainly emulate a tide pool in a rocky area.

Hey! It’s been a while. Just an update. I stocked it with the first batch of livestock to get started!
One small black urchin
2 chromes
One scarlet hermit

I love the idea of rock sticking out of the water, or some other design feature. I don't do that on my reef tank, but I have a really small (I think it's 4g freshwater tank) at my work that has a deadwood bonzai tree that pokes out of water and I think it looks great!

I did not attach photos. Please forgive the fresh water.

Don’t worry about it. It looks really cool!

I’ve been thinking about getting a 30 gallon cube (18” sides) sticking a single larger piece of live rock and planting a mangrove in it. I might put seahorses in it.

When I’m done getting my current build going, I plan on getting to work with that.
