Thank You for the reply. I inherited the tank. It is about 10 years in my home. It was taken down piece by piece and moved. The previous owner did not look after it very well. There was no coral in it when My son and i bought it.It’s really hard to pinpoint from a picture without a microscopic ID. I tend to think black slime like this is a type of Cyanobacteria. You could try a chemical removal like chemiclean. But fixing the overall problem is key. Whether it be nutrient related or flow.
what are your parameters?
Age of tank?
Looks like live rock?
How much flow do you have and what kind?
Water change schedule?
