Could be cyano bacteria
Does it blow off the rock and sand easy?

So I just discovered

this unknown substance this morning before the corals came out. The one picture shows pure black gobs. It looks like silicon. The other are pure black spots, and have white tips.
I have no idea what it is, and if removal should be done, or some sort of treatment reef2reef

It’s really hard to pinpoint from a picture without a microscopic ID. I tend to think black slime like this is a type of Cyanobacteria. You could try a chemical removal like chemiclean. But fixing the overall problem is key. Whether it be nutrient related or flow.

what are your parameters?
Age of tank?
Looks like live rock?
How much flow do you have and what kind?
Water change schedule?

The more info provided, the easier it is to help

Could possibly be a sponge upon closer look at the pics. Plakortis sp comes to mind but not sure. Close up pics would help.

Thank You for the reply. I inherited the tank. It is about 10 years in my home. It was taken down piece by piece and moved. The previous owner did not look after it very well. There was no coral in it when My son and i bought it.
The tank is a 35 gallon ( I know too small ) I do water changes every week ( 5 gallons ) I use RO water ( my own, and also has a DI filter the TDS is zero. It has a fluval cannister filter and capacity would handle a 70 gallon. There is one power head, and a hang off the back skimmer.
Parameters
Ammonia: 0, Nitrite: 0 Nitrate: 0 PH : 8 Calcium: 480- 500 Phosphate less than .5
Hope that helps. Attached is as good of a picture I can get

Could be that your Nitrates are 0. It can cause cyano when this happens. You can try chemiclean or try either feeding your tank more or dosing Nitrates to bring them up a bit. 3-5 or 5-10 will be more than enough.

Unfortunately Here we cannot buy such chemicals, and no medications even for ICK. The vets lobbied the government, and it was all stripped off the shelves. To top it off no vets here will treat fish. Nice eh? Could not even get antibiotics to treat my cichlids for bloat. Had to figure it out and realized I was giving them the wrong food for that type ( Lake Malawi Yellows. Lost 5
