So I had to dismantle my quarantine tank, but the local Petco just got in some brilliant looking long tentacle and bubble tip anemones. I have read that there is a chance they can carry diseases in with them, and seen answers on quarantine times from 0 (shake them in DT water) to 7 days.

Any thoughts on just how much of a chance there is that they actually do carry something (obv no one knows exactly) or what I can do to minimize it if I can’t properly QT?

You should be more concerned with the anemone health than what it could bring in the tank. Anemone from shady sources should really only be purchased if you have cipro on hand and are familiar with treatment. Assuming your tank has all of the needs of an anemone covered.

Is the health concern that the anemone will die, or that it can kill other anemones in the tank? I only have a couple RFAs

My personal experience with anemones is that if they have not been in captivity and or come from splits is it is a crap shoot - not in your favor
Others performance may vary

Do yourself a favor and check for local reefers selling first. Better health, size and price usually.

Nem dies imo. I've never seen anything spread amongst them here. @Eagle_Steve or @OrionN can advise further. And as @Jekyl mentions previous....

see that is what caught my eye, they have one the size of my hand selling for their normal nem price of $40

That it will die. They are prone to bacterial infections.

I've got several different ones. Never had an issue. Local reefers where I'm at think they own a business and try sell everything at full retail. It's a waste of time dealing with them. Lol

What does it look like? How long have they had it? Where was it sourced? I got a 10" rainbow for $50 that was as healthy as could be.

You need to have a qt tank and be versed in the proper protocol to treat. Unless it's a captive cultured bta...

Everyone of my nems that are not btas have gone thru treatment. I am approaching 30...

they just got it in, they are the only act in town so it will be gone by noon tomorrow. It is well dig into the gravel and opened up…problem is if I don’t get them here I probably won’t get them, as I hear they do not ship well

They don't which is the concern. The place you're buying it from just got it shipped in. It will take some time before things go south. Usually after they are taken home. Just have some cipro on hand or order it now. It's something any anemone lover should keep on hand.

I've had a perfectly healthy anemone get infected by a new un QT'd anemone.
Were they both the same type and coloration? There is normal warfare that happens between specific nems. Kind of like you shouldn't mix sunburst with rose.

This is not a purchase- It is a gamble.
Best to purchase or order from a local LFS
