Hi my name is victor I'm 14 years old about to be 15 in a few days or so and I'm getting a freshwater 70 gallon aquarium. I would post info on that here but this group doesn't have a freshwater section which is only my recommendation. My plan is after a few years of learning about freshwater I'll move on to salt and do a species only tank. Most likely a frogfish they are like pugs ,ugly cute. I'm getting catfish and maybe some cichlids and I don't know. I love catfish they are really cute and some species are really hardy. I heard of something called a Coral Catfish and I love it if anyone has one I'd love to see it. I'm ordering from live aquaria.com and I can't quarantine because I don't have the money. But I will do acclimation and cycling and all that. Cycling before I get the fish. I'm getting a canister filter and a cobalt heater and some other stuff but really that's it. I live in New Jersey so I'm getting the fish shipped to me from California and I think everything will be okay and I will do some aquascaping and maybe post it here. I have a dog as well he's an old dog he's a chiweenie (chihuahua and dachshund mix breed) I've had him for awhile and he's about 8-11 years old but he's happy. His name is Melvin he sleeps in a crate with a bed that he loves until he has to go for a walk. He isn't potty trained my family never learned how but it's fine he's usually out of his crate except when no one is watching him or we have to go somewhere. Anyway that's everything I can remember so have a good day!

Hello Victor. Hope you have success with your freshwater tank but you can always start small and dip your toes into saltwater! No need to wait a few years if you plan. Welcome to R2R!

@vicmonahan1396 welcome! Sounds like you have a plan! We do have some quality fish stores in NJ where you might wish to visit to see if they have any of the fish you're interested in. Where are you in NJ?

North Arlington but I like live aquaria I've heard a lot of good things. Also if anyone has any species you recommend like some easy fun fish tell me

Welcome to the forum Victor and an early Happy Birthday to you. Sounds like a good plan you're working with. Good luck getting the tank up and running. It won't be long and you'll get bitten by the salt but in the meantime, keep reading and researching so you'll be ready when it happens.

Hello over here as well. As we said on RC, start slow, get a plan, don’t panic, and make sure you listen to the advice you ask for.

I'm doing freshwater but i will still go slow. I'm also keeping the other advice for later when I maybe do a small saltwater tank.

Welcome to R2R. Let's see some pics of your current tank!

Haven't setup it up yet. I had a tank years ago but I got out of the hobby. All the fish died because I was s dumb kid now I'm a less dumb kid. It's going to be a 60 gallon kind of like this!

Welcome, Victor!

I too, love catfish. For your set up I would recommend these Silver Pictus Catfish. They're pretty hardy, active, and fun to watch.

*EDIT* Oh! About the Pictus. Heed the warnings about their serrated fins and avoid using a net with them. It gets stuck in their fins and is a real mess to try and clean. Definitely not fun for you or the fish.

It says they need a 70 gallon I'm gonna try and get a 75 gallon which is on sale for 299.99 the normal price is 499.99 and I'm getting the tank and stuff in august

You can show pics of the freshwater, we love pics no matter the salt content. Did you have a salt tank before or is this your first one?
