this morning I took delivery of my blue face angel,
can somebody please identify the disease, fish is eating, but looks a mess, it's in the QT tank
The supplier, has refunded half the cost, and said he will guarantee the fish if it dies,

however, I will do all I can to save the Fish

Poor baby. I'm new. The experts will be here soon.

Looks like ich or velvet to me, but that is a guess. I am brand new. Do not even remotely consider this is the answer. I'd never want to jeopardize your little beauty.

I got a surprise day off and wanted to see her update. How is she?

That looks like bad lymph, which is harmless unless it grows over the mouth or gills. Large angels can get it pretty bad. It's viral and goes away on its own. High water quality and soaking food in selcon or vita chem would perhaps help boost the immune system. The fish may have other ailments as well, but that one glares at me from the photos.

Any hiding from light? Swimming in to powerheads? Spots or dustings? Heavy breathing?

While I'm not yet one of the pros, that doesn't look like ich or velvet to me. (Not to say that the fish doesn't have either of those - sadly, diseases aren't limited in how many can come with each fish...)

That might be a bacterial infection, in which case you'll want to dose antibiotics (Furan-2, Kanaplex, Metroplex) in a quarantine tank, but it also might be lymphocystis (and about the worst case I can remember!). Lymphocystis is a viral disease, so there's not much that can be done for it except maintaining excellent water quality and feeding quality foods - but it's also not generally terribly dangerous. Just take good care of the fish until it goes away on its own.

+1 to a bad case of Lympho, which is good news...especially if it's eating. High-quality foods soaked in vitamins and clean water will help move it along. Since it's viral, there's no other treatment needed.

I would keep an eye out for other symptoms. Scratching, breathing heavily, yawning, deteriorating fins or white or red blotches/discoloration, small spots like grains of salt, swimming into flow, etc.

Beautiful fish!

I had a Queen angel that was about twice as afflicted by lymph as your Blueface-- for three months it got really bad, at one point it grew over the mouth AND gills and the fish started having trouble eating and breathing. Humble suggested I do "surgery" on the lymph to give her a fighting chance. I told myself as soon as she couldn't eat anymore I was going to remove it with a razer blade. After a few days it began to retreat, and after a week it was 90% gone! The fish made a full recovery. The other angels in the tank (3 other large angels) got a small amount on the tip of their fins like this angel, and my giant potters got a small amount on its fins and a spot on its gill as well. They all cleared up fine and seemingly suddenly. Very strange. Just keep feeding and watch for other ailments, as the fish will probably be more susceptible than normal.

I was wondering about Lymph, I'm glad that you guys all agree that's what it is. I've never seen a case that bad before. OP I hope you'll keep us posted on the angels progress.

Thanks everyone, for the info, it only seems to be one side, so far, i can see myself doing water changes every two days, as she's eating everything that goes in, I'm socking the food in garlic, and just ordered a good vitamin supplement, and food designed for just for angles. (I don't even get this type of treatment)
Should i knock the lights out for a couple of days, theres no one else in the QT Tank, trouble is I have a pair of ghost clowns which have been paid for in the local shop, can't see him holding onto them forever, might need to get an small tank up and running for the clowns.... once again thanks everyone

I wouldn't worry about the lymph, if that's all that's ailing the fish. :)
