Hello everyone,

My name is Scott, I have just got back into marine tanks after a 7 year break.

I have just woken to find a rather large (paracite) on my male skunk clown fish.

It's located on his bottom fin.

As I have never see anything like this before I am really in need of some advice.

I am attaching a few images

It's a little foggy and hard to tell. But the two dots on top look like the eyes of a spheromatid. Forgive the spelling but it is a type of isopod. I am not even close to sure though. If it is it will definitely need to be removed
yup. I believe a ph balanced fw dip will make it let go.

Thanks I'll give it a go
good luck, if the fish gets stressed from capture let it rest.
the parasite isn't a super big deal immediately for the fish, its that you dont want it getting away.
aerate the water imo.
go slow. and good luck.

The freshwater dip stressed the clown out. The isopod would not let go. I pulled the fish out of the bath and slowly pushed the isopod. As it realised the clown fish flicked it away.

He's back in the tank looking positive

Thanks for the your help and advise.

Scott
whew.

Heres a ton o likes.
Welcome to Reef2Reef Btw....sorry it was under such harsh conditions.

Welcome to R2R! Sorry to be late to the party, but you got great advice. It was an isopod. I hope it didn't go back into the tank after it fell off the clownfish. Keep an eye out for more and get them out as well.

Welcome and glad your fish is doing well now! Beautiful color on your clownfish!

Did u get a pic of it off the fish. I like to see hitchhikers and pests. :-)
