Urgh seriously.

Hello,

So I get my first online order of coral Thursday yay! Excited, to see how they turn out and nervous at the same time. It has definitely been a learning experience for me, and kinda of an adventure. I started small, and hopefully if this one turns out good, then I can order from some of the vendors here (or more of them per say).

I’m definitely looking forward to, hopefully not getting called into work. Any thing I should be aware of?

Hello,

So throwing this out there, and just got home, with my first online coral order yay:). I onkt have coral rx dip, and I know most use the bayer method, any real difference? Not to mention the three frags I have ordered are not on plastic plugs, but they have encrusted already. Not sure how to remove them without harming the corals. Any advice on if I should put these plugs in my tank?

Thanks
Sarah

Hello all,

So finally finished my tank maintenance, and put some new corals in. It took me forever, Urgh but well worth it. I cut as much as the frag plugs as possible. Doing a 60 gallon water change is such a work our holy cow.

Here is a new pic of my tank and I so pretty and clean now yay! Now it’s time for me to crash sooooooo tired.

It's looking good! Hopefully you still had the energy when you were done to go upstairs to use the facilities. :D

Hello,

Naaaa lol that wouldn’t be any fun now would it lol. Instead I have a bunch of empty 5 gallon bottles, and a sharpie. I can just write names on each bottle and hey it comes with a lid. We have portable toilets now in the house and they have lids lol. Sorry lol now the thought of that makes me cringe lol but my lol nephews thought it was a grand idea. Now I have to hide the bottles from them sheesh.

A 32 ounce Big Gulp should be sufficient and easier to rinse.

Hello,

First, please forgive me if I posted this in the wrong section, but I have never had this happen before and I am panicking.

So I have a 240 gallon tank with a 75 gallon sump tank. To be nice I let my brother and his children stay in my home for this week. (Long story) I just came home and found out that my nephews have been urinating in my sump tank. I don’t know how long they have been doing it, how often. I came home and caught my 5 year old nephew red handed.

I immediately shut down my return pumps, and shut the union valves underneath off and shut all flow from the tank to the sump off completely. I have no idea how much has already been sent into my main display tank, and how long. I’m doing a water test now to see where my parameters are now. I also have enough salt water stores to do 80 gallon water change.

The only thing I have added was I turned on my magnum 350 canister filter which there are two of them. One is a purification filter (it’s white) and the second is a straight carbon only. Any thing else I should be doing, I’m worried about my fish and corals.

Thanks

WOW, when you think you've heard it all! Oh man, I'm not sure how I would react to that if I was in your place... They wouldn't be around much anymore that's for sure. Good luck :)

Hello,

Okay I know I’m gonna get it for this one lol what is a Big Gulp? Never heard of that, is it just a like a large cup lol from McDonald’s?

Lol, young lady you are wonderfully sheltered and that is a very good thing!

7-11 Big Gulp. Local convenience store (7-11) drink cup. To max it out you can get a mountain dew or put a slurpie in it.
I wouldn't recommend either, but some of my coworkers swear by them.

What are the kids up to these days?

Hello lol,

Yes I was a little sheltered too much through out my life here on earth. I don’t even think Boise has a 7-11, which maybe why I didn’t recognize it. However, I do know slushes and other than total brain freeze, they are so remarkable on super hot summer days. Just remeber to pinch the straw or lol your brain will be just like frosty the snow man’s. Speaking of which it kinda sounds good at the moment, reminds me of the Disney movie wreck it Ralph, where they have them in sugar land:)

Hello good morning,

Wow, one must be super thirsty to get one of those. I couldn’t imagine drinking all of that, I would literally need a portable potty. It would seem that my five gallon jugs would work once empty I guess :).

I had a light bulb moment yesterday with some new coral that I had purchased. When they come on the little plugs I have always left them on it. In which I have always had to find a hole in the rock to place them. Which of course I would always run out of holes. But yesterday I actually can cut the plugs down or their stems off and trim them. It was an oh wow duh moment for me. I now realized how much more space I have because I don’t have to find a hole in my rock anymore.

The real Big Gulp is slightly smaller. :-)

I am not a fan of visible frag plugs in my reef. At times, with SPS frags that have encrusted, I have cut the frag off as close as I could to the base. I would then glue the cut piece to a rock in the tank and put the encrusted base in my frag rack. In time, I had a ready made frag to sell or trade, plus the one growing in the tank. :-)

Hello,

That’s a really neat and cool idea, I will have to start a frag tank. I’m just starting to realize that one could make a lot of money selling frags. Of course I’m not fond of price jacking, but, if I sell it to help fund my addiction then neato. I would probably be the cheapest person to buy from but hey at least I share the wealth and beauty. :)

I so want a super big gulp now just to say I have had one lol. It’s too bad we don’t have a 7-11 but we do have stinker stations:). Some of their cups are huge.

I'm curious, Are these stores actually named "Stinker stores" or is this a local term people use? LOL

Hello,

I swear on my life they are called stinker stations lol and have a pic of a skunk kinda like in looney tunes. You should be able to google them and look them up lol. Later today I will try and go to one and take a pic lol.
