Urgh seriously.

Hello,

Lol ahh give me a second to read each one so love this:) well I read them already but I go back to reference them :).

Hey Sarah what’s your go to cure for bacterial blooms. Woke up to this

Hello,

Hmm what are your nitrates and phosphates at? Is there any direct sunlight coming in? Not sure what you dose or if at all, but I control mine with nopox. I always get a little when I feed my corals but it’s gone in a day. Do you have more pics and which lights and how much Red and green?

@cracker come to Boise they come like every two years and play at the western idaho fair which is free admission.’

Don't get too carried away bashing my generation for their music! Our parents all had us listening to classic rock I'm sure!

Plus let's not forget the 90s. From pearl jam, nirvana, soundgarden to Nas, Tupac, and biggie. Some of the most influential artists of all time.

I mostly listen to Rebelution, the expendables, stick figure etc... now though. I can only listen to the same thing for so long before it gets tired.

I love the last 3 bands you just listed. That’s my jams bro!

I saw Chicago live also. Unfortunately, I guess I caught them on a bad night. It was sometime in the mid-70s, so it wasn't like some of these bands that tour with the old names and mostly different people. That usually tight horn section was all over the place. A little disappointed. But, that happens sometimes with a live performance. Maybe their sound guy was having a bad night - or hungover. :)

Hello,

When I saw them they had it down great and sounded amazing. I can say of all the ones I have seen lol mchammer by far was the neatest to watch to dance. But I have seen a few concerts where they were not that great. I was dragged to a Katie Perry concert and that was horrible lol. In our current times I wish more of my age would enjoy the older music. It’s another reason I won’t go to clubs even though my friends ask me to often. I don’t see how they dance or even tolerate it. There is no style anymore as compared to older music. Yes times have changed, but it’s rather odd when an oldies station plays Journey instead of like the Beatles or supremes or Rolling Stones or buddy holly lol. They play journey, Chicago, reo speedwagon lol.

The allman brothers were really good also, and it’s hard to even hear them on the radio anymore as well. I miss some of the other songs like from Paul Davis or harry chapin, bread, I think Dan fogelberg is there I don’t hear much anymore unless on Pandora or satellite radio. I still remember they use to play Jefferson starship on the classic radio here in Boise, not anymore.

Plus Aerosmith, Kansas, Styx, the Doobie Brothers, Heart, REO Speedwagon, Rush, Supertramp.
To name a few more. :D

Hello,

I was trying to see Styx when they came I think they opened for journey, so the journey section but was late. There were some good bands early 90s, 10,000 manics, nirvana unplugged was good (David grohl) is a fantastic musician, plus there was seal, the offspring is great, rem,
There was dance music wise dead or alive had some good songs, ac/dc I like a few Metallica songs, garbage, Dave Mathew bands to name a few. But I can’t think of many from 2000 and up that’s outstanding. I do like the song Budapest from George Ezra but that’s it lol.

Hello,

I would lower the nitrates between 2-5 roughly or around 3. Every time I hit 10 ppm on nitrates I have a cyano bloom and I have up the dosage on my nopox. Daily I use about 20ml for my tank, feed fish daily and coral every two days sometimes twice a week. Remember when your dosing your trace elements it’s soley based on your calcium usage per day. So for example I use 1.5 tablespoons of the seachem alk and cal powder. I mix it in with my rodi water and dump it in the tank and test every two days. My tank normally stays stable but it swings and it swings fast. I tested calcium Monday and was at 560 somehow (approx but I didn’t dose that night to bring it down, next day it was 320 from 560. That’s when I tested and had my lfs cross test, so they can swing in usage. But I’m doing 1.5ml a day of trace elements and mag maybe 10ml once every two weeks or once a month to keep it at 1390. Feeding corals has shown for me to give me cyano quickly and some hair algae. The lower the nitrates and phosphates the less issues I have. But do not take them too low, running a low nutrient system you want alk around 7-8 usually 7 is normal and cal between 420-440. It’s also been shown that when your tank swings slightly up or down it actually helps the corals. It makes them less sensitive to swings. Corals in super stable conditions will fail faster, the ocean is not super always stable. Another way to help corals is to trim them, it makes them grow faster and kick in production.

But I would maybe go to 10ml on the nopox, change filter socks and pads, clean skimmer. Maybe run that for three days, clean again see where things are and if better drop to 8ml per day for three days and again clean socks and pads. Then see if it stays away, (mine goes away but if my nitrates or phosphates come up then I get tiny blooms and I have to increase the dosage). Since it’s addictive I try and give the bare min which for my size tank and level would be 20ml. I try to do .16ml but it comes back in about a week or two if I do.

Which lights do you run again and if you have any red or green on, turn them off for now. Try not to go past 5% when you do have them on. Uv steralizers also help my tank and I run two of them. They are the green killing machines but they have really helped a lot.

I always stop by here just to read what is going on and the topic of the day.

Lol it’s always good to see you here I have missed you, how are things with and your little ocean?

Prepare yourself! :D

Seriously though, it's very rare to find someone in their twenties who appreciates 'our' music. You rock! (Literally!)

Ahh thanks lol, my parents taught me well and I kinda inherited thousands of cds and like four iPods of music from my older brother. I probably have 20,000 songs on all of the iPods lol.

Well said @Lowell Lemon. Not to take this thread off topic, but since I've pretty much read most of the entire thing, I'm not sure there is a "topic." Where in Washington are you? I'm up in Oak Harbor.
Clarkston, WA on the Snake river at the mouth of Hells Canyon the deepest river valley in the United States. Yeah it is not the end of the Earth but we can see it from here! LOL! I spent years roaming the Northwest delivering aquariums we made right here in my shop! Not my main business anymore. My go to shipping company is Oak Harbor Freight!

I'm actually fairly odd, I think.
Although I listened to and loved all the bands named in the last few pages,
in the late 70s, the band I listened to obsessively was
Blue Öyster Cult
Even had their symbol on my dorm room door as a freshman.

I got over them when life became too busy in the early 80s.
They play casinos on reservations now, lol. What's left of them, anyway.

And then, in middle age, much to my surprise I became completely obsessed with another band
Modest Mouse
So many Modest Mouse concerts where I was pretty much the oldest guy there!
Front row if possible (and it often was if you got there early.)
People would look at me funny, undoubtedly wondering if I was a narc.
Unfortunately the driving force behind the Mouse seems to have suffered creative decline,
as people often do when they achieve some success and put on some years.

But tbh I haven't been listening to much new stuff for a few years now.

Is that daily?
I would suggest you cut them all back except for the calcium and alk, assuming you keep an eye on those numbers.
Especially stop the nopox and reef energy for now if you want your water to clear.
They feed the bacteria.
What's in 'bioactive elements'? I'd probably stop that too. :)
Agree with the use of UV, short-term. Long term, it damages your system's microfauna badly.

I keep a close eye on everything. 1380, 8.2, 440. Rock solid hasn’t changed in months, I have had to increase the dose of all of them though. Iodine I keep at 40, potassium I keep at 400, iron I keep undetectable but dose enough for my macro to thrive, bioactive elements are random other trace elements like Ba, which is also perfect at 10.
The only thing that changes is my nitrate and phosphate. It has been higher, this is the low version. It was 50 nitrate .25 phosphate and to be honest my tank looked amazing and coral was growing like crazy.
If I stopped Nopox my tank would be 100 nitrate in 24 hours. I’ve tried it. So I don’t think stopping it again is a great idea.

@Sarah24! my lights are 360x’s and aquatic life hybrid;2 blue +, actinic, coral + max color on all the kessils is 35%

Oh and I don’t do socks. I’ve done them and they killed my pod population. So I don’t do them anymore. Also not sure what you mean by pads.

also I’ve had zero cyano, zero gha, zero anything undesirable. My test kits are the only thing telling me something is wrong. Visually it looks great in there.

Lol it’s always good to see you here I have missed you

Thank you:)

how are things with and your little ocean?

I went to extremes to finally kill of the cyano in my little ocean. Now is the rebirth of the coral reef. I lost most of my arco's and I will slowly be adding so nice one back when I can find the right ones. I also went back to when I could grown anything with what I was dosing a year ago.

No socks? No roller mat either? I have put sooooo many shipments of pods over the past 6 months and I have yet to see even one!! Maybe I’ll get those bioluminescent ones off algae barn next time. Does ur skimmer get all the gunk out. Mine still has these dang diatoms sooooo

Oh really? Yea the first 2 months I ran socks. Changed them every 2 days. I would always see tons of amphi pods in there.

Hello,

@Hemmdog ahhh DO NOT STOP the nopox no matter what especially suddenly you will crash and kill all your coral and possibly everything. This is stated very clearly on page six I believe (I can take a photo of it) this basically is the same as a benzodiazepines like for humans. @tdlawdo knows this also. Dosing nopox is very addicting such as vodka but has horrible life long like someone being prescribed benzodiazepines, or like a lesser one prednisone. You can not just stop any of those, this is the same with the redsea nopox. Your corals will starve and basically have a horrific withdrawal from it. Even when your nitrates are where you want you still must do the bare min of your water volume in your tank. Mine for example is 16ml, and I have tried to go lower and things started to go badly. It changed after I went back up to 20ml. This is the huge drawback to nopox, but like you if I don’t use it, for some reason my nitrates hit 40 ppm in a few days. I did 80 gallon water changes weekly and it didn’t even drop them. If your using a different version I highly suggest you read the dosing instructions very closely. I would also make sure you add extra air. If your tank is cloudy I would run carbon in a separate container to see if it pulls anything out. Are you missing any fish, or live critters or have any learners in there? The micropads are basically small pads I put in right before the return pumps. It catches all super small particles and gives clear water.

I have ran my uv 24/7 since my tank started and I have had luck with it. Now I can’t support why, but I have had no fish disease (I also always feed w garlic guard), but I’m also terrified to add any new fish to my system. As far as pods go I have no idea what mine is at. I use the socks to help catch the cyano when I blew it off the rocks. I’m mixed on filter socks but so far they are working and I’m hesitate to change if my tank is doing good. This is also why I make small tiny changes, because I’m hoping to lessen the sensitivity of my corals it swings happen in my tank.
