Urgh seriously.

Lol hello,

@Brew12 lol you crack me up lol, constantly. It’s hard I’m extremely mature in everything but common sense. I swear on my life lol God left that part of my brain somewhere in the side. I can do anything major, and extremely complex, but simply stupid everyday things lol I’m way to naive in. I have trust issues as in I trust everyone like I have known them for 25 years. I have a very difficult time becoming angry, and if I do lol it last maybe five minutes If that. When my brother and I had a falling out, it lasted maybe 3 minutes tops. So me staying mad at someone is overly difficult for me.

Your girls are so wonderful and adorable, they must be cuddle bugs. My niece is that way, a huge huge cuddle bug. It’s terrible lol when we just sit in pajamas all day and cuddle on the couch and watch Disney movies. It’s not often but it’s so relaxing.

Hello,

So was curious on a few things if any one can chime in. I have an eshopps s300 and until yesterday it was super quite. Now it makes a gurgling noise like it’s plugged up. I emptied the collection cup and cleaned the air intake tubes, and the intake valve. It still makes the annoying gurgling noise. I cleaned it about two weeks ago, anyone think I need to sadly take it apart and clean it.

My other question is my sump take sucks lol. I have started to grow chaeto in my sump. Was curious if the light I have and placement will grow it just fine. (See pic attached). The other is my war paint scoly is starting to lose its flesh on one edge. I moved it close to my other scoly that’s doing awesome.

In light of this, I tested my water in which I had no ammonia, no phosphates, under 5ppm for nitrites and nitrates. My calcium was almost 480 and alk was 10, on Sunday and 8 today. My ph was right at 8.2 so my parameters are good. No other coral or fish have any issues or show signs of distress. Would love for those to give me advice on how to save it. I do feed fuel, reef roids, marine snow and zoo plankton every Tuesday Thursday and Saturday. I normally do 80 gallon water changes every three weeks.

Thanks so much my friends
Sarah

Unfortunately, yes. Sounds like something got in the needle wheel on the pump.

I've never seen someone try to grow chaeto in a baffle like that. I'm not confident that would work well since the chaeto doesn't have much area to grow.

Can't help with the scoly, they aren't a coral I have owned.

I am not familiar with the skimmer. Has your water level maybe changed (more pee?) :-) If I couldn't figure out where the noise was coming from, I would likely pull it out and clean / inspect all the parts to make sure everything is clean and working as it should.

I have never kept scolys either, so my advice would be guesses. A guess might be flow. Too much maybe where it was located?

Not sure the chaeto will work out there. With a 200+ gallon tank, I don't think that small amount of macro will make that much difference anyway. Plus, the added light may cause other algae, even coraline to grow elsewhere in the sump, skimmer, etc. Have you ever considered an Algae Turf Scrubber? You could also create a remote refugium out of a separate aquarium. Not sure you have room in your stand for something like that, but they can also be located next to the tank. I have done those before. They also have the Chaeto Reactors now. (PS - The one in the link is recommended for a 100 gallon tank.)

Hello,

It looks like tomorrow when I’m off, I will have to clean my whole protein skimmer since it will drive me crazy. It’s odd I just cleaned it about 8 weeks ago, along with my wave makers. Looks like they will get a vinegar bath also along with the protein skimmer. Since I’m doing all this I may as well hook everything up to my Bluetooth controller.:) Urgh there goes my day off lol.

So far my scoly is holding and it’s only on one edge. I’m thankful it’s not in the center. It just disturbs me greatly when I have coral and it starts to die. It tells me I have not paid enough attention, or something. All my water was good I can’t imagine I had too much flow. My only assumption is I had to pick it up and move it, and place it again. I may have pressed too hard on that edge and damaged some of the tissue. Which makes me feel so bad, cause now I’m like an abusive parent Urgh.

I agree with Fin and go with an algae scrubber. I haven't done a water change since October and my DIY scrubber kept my nutrients extremely low. And I was feeding heavily at the time. A DIY version is pretty simple to rig up and I used these grow lights. https://www.amazon.com/TaoTronics-S...qid=1525921101&sr=8-5&keywords=grow+light+led

Aside from the light, it was under $15 in materials.

Also you generally want to see your nitrites at 0, and that seems like pretty big alk drop for three days. What test kits are you using?

I would disagree with Nitrates at 0. I tried that starting out and starved my corals. I’d shoot for between 5-10 and as your tank ages it can even go higher.

I agree about keeping your nitrates at around 5ppm but you really you want your nitrites at 0. Nitrites are toxic to what we keep.

Congratulations, Sarah! That is an amazing accomplishment and one I am sure you are very proud of. Enjoy the down time today and the huge life milestone tomorrow! I hope some celebration is lined up for the weekend, if you're not at work. :) And - show us those acros!

So good morning all,

Today is so exciting I received my first major acro pack today so definitely need to give well deserved credit to Dominic.

I just received Dominic’s package with the coral (so excited). He was truly truly amazing to deal with, specially with this being my first time. He really worked with me very well since I was kinda new at this and had no idea what I was doing. I have put the corals in my tank to start acclimating them right away, (my lights are on cloudy acclamation).

The box was very nicely packaged, (very professional) plus he had s nice warm thingy in there as well. In addition he wrote a very professional letter, letting me know what was included. Each coral was bagged separately and labeled since I would never know the difference. Also these frags are actually really good size and was amazing deal for the price. I will definitely order more from him, and of course will post a lot more pics, on here and my normal Urgh seriously thread. Again, truly truly thank you Dominic for making my first time ( large order) so wonderful.

I have posted some beginning pics, but will post more, since they are still in their baggies. Here is a list of what he sent me plus a FREEBIE yippie, so kind of him.
Here is the list of acros and they are really really good size, not tiny little nubs.
1.) pc rainbow (it’s really large close to 2 inches
2.) pearlberry (there are two on one plug and they are each about an inch or more)
3.) ora red planet
4.) Bc rainbows in Spain
5.) upscales microclados
6.) shades of fall
7.) pink lemonade
8.) Poletti yellow tip
9.) freebie lol and no idea what it is but it’s neat.

Hello,

I have not tried that yet, (do you mean like thawed out frozen shrimp misis?). I have been feeding marine snow and zooplankton, fuel, and reefoids. The other scolys are doing great. Last night when I checked the warpaint had a lot of its feeding geneticals out on every side that was not damaged and the mouth looks great still. I will start doing that ASAP, he means a lot to me.

Yeah, normal frozen mysis that you would feed to your fish. I thaw it out and use a baster to drop it directly into the mouth of the scoly. Their tentacles always quickly close up around the food.

That's a really nice list of acros! When I first started keeping acros the number 1 thing that changed for me was that I needed to measure Alk pretty much daily and react to it as things started taking off. With those few acros and a tank your size it won't happen right away, but eventually they will really start gulping up the alkalinity if they are happy :)

Hey Sarah,

I am following thread. Looks to be a fun ride!

fyi your freebie was ORA Hawkins Echinata. I haven't got a chance to read it all what did you end up adding to your lights, anything yet? t5 / LED combo can't be beat especially for SPS. Your Acros will thank you for it.
