Urgh seriously.

Lol what @Fin no you goof, it’s out of my kitchen drawer. It’s a digital themoter and I used it when I had to check chicken, steak etc. I would one never steal and worse off lol there are two types used in a hospital, one that scans your forehead and they are like 9,000 dollars lol the others are ones we gently ram up a poor patients cuzo to get a temp. I don’t want either one of those near my tank :) lol

Curious to know what "wazoo" sounds like in your British accent. Something like "wah-zoooo?" :-)

Hello dear friends,

Hopefully first of all, you guys are keep cool and staying out of this most annoying heat. The people who have come in do to heat stroke, heat rashes is just off the charts. For the love of fruity pebbles and cold milk, turn your a/c on or stay in a place with a/c. Seriously we had a lady with a little girl come in who didn’t have access to a/c and both had severe heat stroke. We literally chipped in and paid for a hotel room for the week. So stay cool even if it means not buy new coral or pizza or even fruity pebbles.

So working on my 240 seems to be doing better, when turning the heaters down I’m stuck lol at 79 degrees which is better than 81. My home is 68 and yes I freeze to death kinda feels good. I’m trying to beecome Anna or Elsa in the movie frozen. I have considered turning it down to 65 just to see if it drops my tank temp a degree.

Also is there anyway to stop slow tissue loss on sps? Even after the parameter are corrected? Only method I know is by turning lights down and fragging above the area. But it’s in the center and working up, any suggestions. It’s funny as I write this I’m listening to somehow lol My music play list on my phone. Now some of you may know I suck at smart phones :). So making a music play list hmmm never done before. But it’s kinda cool it has between Natalie merchant, 10,000 maniacs. Harry Chapin, the Carpenters, then umm disco lol really itunes I mean really disco. Yes it played the beegees, Amy Stewart, kc and sunshine band lol. Not that the songs were bad but what the heck. Then it plays Katie Perry and then back to Chicago and Joan Jett and who the heck is vanilla ice. Haven’t heard of the guy, but sounded like rap but like from the 80s lol. Yet this is the music is says I selected, umm when, did I ever select Vanilla ice or disco lll. It was super embarrassing as co workers looked at me like I have gone insane. That’s it I have gone musically insane. Or like my fav song from 10,000 maniacs like the weather I’m wishing the sun would lol would go away because my bones are not shivering they are combusting it’s kinda like I’m looking out the window and watching people and taking odds on if they instantly combust into flames. Tomorrow Urgh 106, isn’t Idaho suppose to be cooler good grief.

I hated Disco the first time around. :D I won't even comment on Vanilla Ice. I just got a 64gb phone and have about 5,000 songs out of my collection in my iTunes library. I only listen to what I like.

I quit listening to the radio about 30 years ago. FM became what the old AM radio from the 60s was, but in stereo. FM was really cool in it's early days. Many played album cuts of songs, instead of just the popular songs. Granted the DJs were stoned, but always entertaining. :-)

College radio stations are still pretty good in my experience. I am also impressed by SiriusXM. If someone plays a Zappa song, I consider they passed the non-conformity test.

There is a small college station here with a morning show that I can sometimes tolerate. They have a 25 year old girl on there and she has the worst radio screeching voice I have ever heard. They also have former DJs from the area - from like 40+ years ago that have short shows on there, which is kinda neat. We have XM in the car and I do listen to that. I just dislike the run of the mill local stations.

Good evening friends,

Sorry, I don’t forget to write, I don’t have enough hours in the day to usually even sleep. But hey ok that note lol if I pass out as I write this, it would be an amazing sleep study viewed by thousands and thousands. Anyway lol back to my umm it oh heck it will come to me.

So as I try and think of what it was I was looking at prior posts @Brew12, and @NY_Caveman @Fin I usually listen to my iTunes account, but didn’t realize I have satellite in my Jeep. Wow all these years and had no clue it existed and not sure if it’s part of my contract or who knows I’ll find out later. But my co worked made me a bet that I have to listen to the disco station for a month. I couldn’t say no but wow maybe just maybe I should have said no. So I’m looking for some sparkling shirts and some 70s hair styles :).

Now that my brain is back to normal where the left talks to the right and right to the left, at times just the left side of
My brain talks to itself. I blame it for all my off topic oh hey how about that disco music just now:).

But my 240 is going through a phase of a teenager, at the moment. I know this because I was one four years ago. So it’s happy; and mad and both at the same time. Lost an older sps colony, always the ones from my lfs. I did lost one that I have bought online but that’s it.

All of my water parameters are normal, as I test every two days and dose according to the results. I am curious if there has been an actual study and sps corals and what kind of water they really like. My nitrates are still between 2 and 5. But seemed to do better in the 15-20 ppm range and colors
As well. Hey my lps and softies do amazing in clean water and not great in dirty water. Isn’t this totally reveresed from about the 900 books I have read? (Oh and watching ghostbusters gosh suck a classic movie).

So my nitrates are between 2-5ppm that’s with api test and Red Sea test. Alk is between 8-9, calcium is at 440, phosphates at the first color grid or .25 to .50 its the almost clear one. Anyway ph was 8.2 and suppose to be 8.4 so will do a small water change and or add the buffer. I have weened the Red Sea no3 off and went from 6 ml for 4 days to 3 ml for 3 days to 1.5 for 3 days to .75 for 3 days etc. Any other suggestions as to why it’s lovely one day and the next it’s mad?

I thought your hair was already 70s?

As far as brains I use both sides pretty evenly, but the left always wins any debates.

Tank thought is our parameters are pretty similar. Difference is you have several more corals and fish to deal with. I am no expert on SPS or large tanks so I defer to those experienced. I would say it may not be easy to find the answer so do not rush to different actions searching.

Many LFS only carry coral that come directly from the ocean. They normally come in looking great and then brown over time. It is very hit or miss if they will adapt and regain color in captivity or if they will die. You likely ordered coral online that was tank raised. It is already acclimated to living in an aquarium and they tend to have much higher success rates.

Is your Jeep new? If so, you get trial satellite service for about six months. After that, you will need to subscribe. We have it in our vehicle and the XM app on my phone. I do listen to that, but only Classic Vinyl, 70s & 60s channels. The wife listens to a country station. Some disco wasn't so bad. Donna Summer and Gloria Gaynor come to mind. I liked some of those. For me, the movie Saturday Night Fever marks the beginning of all that. I was more in tune with the Urban Cowboy movie fad a decade later. :-)

We haven't seen that many pictures of you, but in the ones I remember seeing, I am with @NY_Caveman, your long straight hair looks like most of the girls I grew up with in the early 70s. Nothing at all wrong with that.

SPS is not always easy, so don't fret over ups and down. Even those that have beautiful SPS tanks are susceptible to sudden and unexplained crashes. Enjoy them while they last. My new tank will have some, but will be mixed, starting early with softies. I am keeping an eye out for rare and interesting softies. I would love to aim for a tank like R2R member MJC. That tank is one of my favorites.

Good morning friends

@Brew12 I have heard that recently and may only buy sps online now. Most of my ones that did bleach were about 4 years old and fairly large, but never super pretty. For a while I didn’t even know they could harvest sps frags from the ocean anymore. I know they have coral farms in the ocean but usually when they come in they are larger than ones you buy online by quite a bit. It would be interesting to do a water test from the ocean where the corals are. I’m sure it’s
Been done lots of times before but just curious as to if the water is much cleaner, or what the parameters are. I know we have done some studies on it but it’s been so long ago I can’t even remember.

@Fin my Jeep is a 2011 and was bought new. But sadly :( I didn’t even know I had a satellite button switch on it until a
Few days ago. I thought it was for like a satellite phone to plug in lol (yup I did). So it may be just a demo or they just haven’t realized I have not turned it on yet. But it’s nice because there are not so many darn commercials, yet the same stupid ones I hear all bleedin day.

Sadly yes we all lose coral, maybe it decided to move and packed its bags and moved to a new tree :). All the other corals are going boat snack:).

@siggy lol my Martha Stewart thermos hangs on the back
Of my overflow in this nice shine brick red and sliver color hmmmmmm (the red could be good for shoes or skirt, socks maybe naaaaaa). Yeah it’s like crock pot cooking here, I see people walking around going for runs in 105 degrees and I’m just waiting for them to combust and burst into flames.
It’s suppose to be 108 today and 110 tomorrow. Seen soooooo many come in do to heat stroke it’s crazy. Kinda sad that a lot of out there where people have to work in the extreme heat and or cold.

We always have hot summers here, but at least have frequent afternoon showers that cools things down a bit. But, the humidity hovers around 100% most of the time, so it is still unpleasant in 95 degree heat - or 85 degrees even. Rarely gets to triple digits here. Only 35 miles from the Gulf of Mexico and are in the middle of hurricane season. Hoping for no threats this year. So far, so good.

I was in Louisiana once and due to the humidity, and my allergies, I threw up for the first day. Definitely not a place I could live. I did end up having a lot of fun there though.
