Urgh seriously.

This was the case decades ago.

Makes sense. I also learned to dive decades ago. Old habits die hard and I never updated my knowledge base in this particular area.
So thank you for the new info! It's reassuring. But I still wouldn't want to test it out on a concrete floor with nearby glass boxes of water. :)

lol, 'open carry'. a phone, that is. :)
Lol, yeah. Ran around with a clamshell work phone for a decade while having a smartphone as a personal phone.

Left the personal phone at home a lot of times depending on where we were working.

We were like happy little kids when we could carry them openly.

Hello,

Wow that sounds insane but can see why if you work in a nuclear plant. Hopefully now you get to keep you smart phone with you but like you I had a flip phone forever. I only switched because of my tank and needed some internet WiFi for some things to work (well log into). But at times I really miss my old crappy flip phone.

@dantimdad based on lol your post could any of us imagine Wiley Coyote trying to run and set up a saltwater tank. All of his stuff would be by acme lol. Oh how my imagination can take me to places lol.

@rkpetersen lol oh could one imagine the damage those would do inside s home and underneath a tank. Not to mention a large tank like mine lol. Not only would I have to watch out for a missile, but falling rock dangerous corals and drowning in my own house.

I'm pretty sure that was a typo Sarah but come to think of it, I guess if you were home when it went off it could damage your underwear too.

Ahh lol I caught it at the last minute and was in edit and forgot to hit save. Oops but yeah my smart phone isn’t actually smart lol.

@Sarah24!
I see you have been looking in on the Dr. from Prime Corals. He managed to get his thread locked again today....I must have hit his last nerve. I was just trying to use a little levity to ease things off and then he went off again. Never seen a Neurosurgeon behave so well.....badly. Note to self don't joke with a doctor who takes himself too seriously.

Have you made a decision to use a CO2 reactor?

Hello,

I’m honestly confused on the whole thing on the calcium reactor. Now online it says they monitor and keep alk and mag and trace elements constant. However all my lfs said it only maintains calcium and they you would need to maintain the others. So that has me thinking a lot more of it only does calcium. If all three are wrong, errr that really makes me wonder lol.

I’m curious how often people feed their corals sps and lps mainly and some softies? I just finally was able to pick up reef roids (wow not cheap), but I have used other coral food and well was never consistent with it. I think running super low nutrients may may make them starve.’

Reef roids once a week, maybe once every other week. It causes cyano bad if you use to much or do it to often. Also I’m not so sure your LFS are the experts they claim to be. Calcium reactors most definitely supply every element that is in stony coral to your tank. Your just breaking down coral and liquifying it’s elements and putting it into your system.

This is 100% accurate

I think your LFS needs to become an R2R member.

Not to generalize...but all of my worst interactions with fellow physicians have been with moody neurosurgeons! Yikes! I have some good stories I’ll tell you at the block party. :)

Lolol

I usually tell my coworkers "Those are 'in the truck' stories. Not 'in front of the client' stories.

We are in standby a lot of times waiting for someone else to finish thier portion of a job.

One of my good friends locally is a Neurosurgeon and a great guy! I built him a couple of tanks over the years including a shark tank next to his lap pool. Kids had a blast swimming in the pool and watching the sharks swim right next to them! They also hosted a "Jaws" movie night with everyone in the pool and the movie projected on the wall. His wife is a nurse and I think we all share a morbid sense of humor due to us all being raised in medical families. She found Barbie dolls with some missing limbs and sunk them in the tank for the show as an added touch....good times and lots of laughs!:D

Block party is clear across the country....:( and now I am mostly vegan and I don't drinko_O due to life experience and choice! It does sound like a blast though! Would love to hear stories....I get to hear a few from local doctors once in a while since we are all friends and I understand HIPPA;Muted.

A timely new video release by BRS on how to tune your calcium reactor & a calculator to help dial it in. :)

CALCULATOR

They removed the video but BRS has been doing a series on CaRx's the last few weeks. I watched one of them and it was pretty decent.

I fixed the video. I was lazy and didn't go to YouTube to get the proper link.

I like that line if you don’t mind I will use it with my residents that have loose tongues in public places. I’ll credit my reefing friend with the saying but it is a good point driver.
