My Tank Thread
@Sarah24! don't worry about me, I will be fine. I still have my health, a great job, and some good friends. I'll find my happy again when I am ready. And I have plenty to keep me busy for now. I refinished all my kitchen cabinets, am almost done installing new tile and am working on building a new kitchen table and side bar. And that is on top of taking care of my furry princess, Bailey, and the aquarium. Now if you know a way to get my friends to stop trying to set me up with every single woman they know, I would appreciate it!Hello,
@Brew12 this year has not been kind to myself or you. I wish it was possible for your happiness to come back.
It’s no fun having a broken heart, and they never seem to heal. I have never been able to put myself first.
The reasons are that’s not what a good person does, a good person helps those in need. The other reason is,
Doesn’t matter if I do or don’t, most people simply don’t care how they affect others. It really woke me up on how severe depression, anxiety, panic attacks ptsd are. Those who have them put others first and are never cared for.
I don’t know what to make of this year, this crisis and people who live pay check to pay check losing homes or cars etc. nobody cares what happens to them or their families, as long as business make money. I know for my friends I have here I hope things stay good. @Brew12 how I wish I could have made your wife stay for the reason that you were married in the first place . There has always been a standard procedure for most things, if your hungry then eat, If sick see dr If one is bleeding go to the er. But if you are losing your mind and your heart is broken there is no standard solution.
As my friends have said keep your tank you will regret it. I fear this too would be the ultimate demise if you do. Keep me posted on what you plan to do.
As with my tank, I’m lost, confused and have no idea. It maybe in time it will help me like myself again.
At the very least, my tank needs to be torn down and relocated. Because my ex and son had ties to this area moving wasn't a real option. I've turned down some very interesting opportunities because I wasn't willing to relocate. To make sure that I can move if I desire, I'm working on increasing the value of the home. Part of that is going to be replacing the damaged hardwood around my aquarium. If I do set up a new system, it will be on tile. I've learned my lesson! ;Sorry I'm taking the time to decide if relocation is a real option for me. If it is, I may let the hobby go for awhile. If I decide I'm more likely to stay then I will keep going in the hobby.
There are still a lot of good people out there who put others first. Even though restaurants around me were allowed to stay open they have almost all closed their dining rooms and fired their wait staffs. At first I was offended by this, but then I found out they did it to benefit their employees. Eat in traffic had dropped to the point the staff wasn't making much in tips. By firing them, they were going to make much more in unemployment. Most of them will be rehired when this passes.
It's can be great to put other people first, but you should put yourself first when it comes to your reef tank. Don't let it be a burden on you. When it stops bringing you more joy and comfort than frustration or anxiety it may be time to stop for awhile. At least until you get settled in. You have been through a heck of a lot in 2020. You need to focus on yourself for awhile. You owe it to yourself.
