Ok say my V Tail decided to take a nose dive out of the tank night before last.
I got to him fairly quickly afterwards maybe a minute as I was outside when he did it. He has completely refused to eat since then and has developed a large white whelp on one side everything else with him still looks very healthy. Still changes colors from the white to the marbled to the deep red. The whelp is on the side he was laying on when i found him. @Humblefish I was hoping that you might have more of an idea what this could be and how to treat.
Dont mind the hair algae its actually there on purpose.

the whelp goes all the way down to the tail right? What did he land on.... a hot plate?

So I'm thinking Methelyne blue to heal the injury. Furan 2 or kanaplex on hand in case it gets infected.

I actually do have all thise on hand waiting for QT to level off on Ph and temo before i move him. And its a 4 ft fall to tile floor I was wondering if the residue from the floor cleaner is not the culprit.

I can see a fish getting sick from rubbing up against some Fabuloso, but causing something like that? Seems a bit harsh. What kind of floor cleaner is it? It could just be damage from the fall and hopefully it's all on the surface.

Fabuloso actually and im hoping thats all it is as well that fish has actually become part of the family probably my favorite.

Oh gosh! I only said fabuloso because thats what we use to clean the floors at the LFS I work at. We always say " if a net hits the floor its taking fabuloso into the tanks with it". Your off to the right start, and you know what to do. Any questions, make sure to let us know! Humble is on vacation, so he'll check in occasionally.

Sorry I just tagged the first person that came to mind i have had fish hit the floor before but never left a mark like that. And qhen this guy doesn't eat actually has me a bit worried for him. Yea the wife likes the way fabuloso smells especially in my office

Yeah I get it. Just take the steps one at a time and address each issue as they show up. For now, lets try to get that wound healed up and prepare for infection. Though every time I look at it, I'm thinking it may already be- if mildly.

Thats kinda what im already thinking its actually raised about an 1/8th of an inch. So that was actually going to be my next question. If memory serves me right i can mix all 3 together correct.

Metroplex, Furan 2 and Kanaplex can all be mixed for maximum effect. If it were me, I'd probably go ahead and do it.

I was planning on it for a freebie that fish is awesome. Other than the fact he will tail slap and splash everyone that walks by.

@melypr1985 @Humblefish thank you very much for the quick response. And the info got everything going now thank you both for yalls quick response everything is going now.
25 minutes into mythelene blue bath.
I've seen quite a bit in this hobby but never had one look like that.

it was certainly a first for me. I've had fish hit the floor before as well and some considerably longer than a 4 foot drop... they never had a mark like that... not even at the store. So I'm glad humble was able to drop in and confirm the treatment course. Good luck!

You know what? That looks better than yesterday.

A littke bit the only thing it does not want to eat and that is highly unusual for this fish. Going to try live food tomorrow

Yes, that would be a good step. Live food is almost irresistible.... hopefully it works! I would go with both live brine and a couple guppies. give him some choices.... slow and easy or a little quicker and more filling.

I dont know if he would even pay attention to brine but thought about acclimating a few guppies in with him. Or some damsels.

I guess I can't really tell how big he is. We had a 12 inch grouper that would eat just about anything including nori as it floated around the tank! He was blind in one eye too. I know he would eat ghost shrimp, but if guppies would be more appetizing to him, then that's probably what you should go with. Remember though, these fish can go for quite a bit without eating before being in danger. We dont like them to stop ever, but sometimes you just dont feel good and you dont want to eat until you do.
