Thats this one he's 6" long and the smallest he pays attention to is a large piece of krill

Where did you find that fish? Back in the day I had a customer with a predator tank who really wanted one, and I had to have it transhipped from a diver/collector I knew in Vanuatu. It wasn't an easy fish to get back then - maybe it is now.

I actually bought a small red sea from a lady that had that, a dogface puffer and a zebra eel. Wanted to sell it cause she couldnt figure out how to keep it clean and when i suggest on a 30 gal tank its pretty hard to go predator she got mad at the LFS that told her it would all be fine they would grow to the tank. So she let me have it all for 100.
Now im waiting for everything to level off here and then this three are getting a 250g.

I have to admit I have never been big on groupers but this guy has got to have the most personality a fish could have. He really is awesome its funny he really will work to get your attention then when you get to the tank the fun begins you are going to get wet.

Now I know the medication can cause loss of appetite and lord knows he has a bit of a fat reserve. Any other thoughts on getting this guy to eat or just be patient and give him time to recuperate. The swelling is almost completely gone and a few patches have more color, when i put the live food in he followed it for a brief moment but other than that showed no interest. I tried guppies and rosy reds.

Have you tried soaking his food in garlic or live food (like blackworms)?

I have not tried garlic or black worms yet, I dont even think i can get black worms here but will try to find some tomorrow. Will try garlic here in a few minute

You know what? I can't find black worms anywhere locally, but at the store we can order them in with some of our freshwater orders. You might try the LFS and ask if they can order some for you in their next shipment. Of course, you may not need them by then, but it's still good to know if you have that option in the future

Yea i know one of them would for me. I can say i definitely hope he's eating by then.

Still no luck getting this guy to eat, he mouthed a piece of krill soaked in garlic guard turned down live damsels rosey reds guppies and blackworms. The damsels are still with him and he is showing no interest. Ive tried all the stuff he hit the hardest and wont even swim towards it. Any thoughts or suggestions are very welcomed.

How's the sore on his side doing? I'd say to keep up the current course. Keep trying to feed him, but try not to worry too much. Let's get this injury healed up and I'm sure he will start eating again after that.

The sore is about looking alot better will get a picture of it after the lights come on. The swelling is completely gone just the discoloration of the scales is whats left.

Good. Keep the meds up until the 10 days is over, then pull them out. At that point you can really get into getting him back to eating. Almost out of the woods.

He actually let ne get a much better shot of the actual damage. You can see were he is getting his vibrant colors back and im guessing the other scales are dead but does not look like its going to scare but i guess time will tell.

It looks like it's getting slowly, but surely better. So that's a great thing! How's the battle to get him eating again going?

I have some shrimp soaking in garlic, he killed the damsels but did not eat them. So hoping he will actually eat the shrimp tonight.

Yea still no luck on eating on a grouper this size how losng can he go with out eating before i should get worried.

I would think you've got a couple weeks at least.

Thats good to know thank you again for your attention to this.

Welk good day for the grouper today he has managed to splash 3 people and he ate a bit still wants more but didnt want to over do it while he is in QT. The line on his side is still the same but looks more like the scales are dead and flaking off. Other than that good day for the fish.
