Vectra and neptune Apex

Your not going to get an official reply from Ecotech on this subject via a user forum. The issues between the two companies have been held close to the chest with users of the equipment like us left to speculate. I was also a Product tester once upon a time and even we weren't told why the Vectra wasn't officially going to be Apex ready. No one officially said anything about them being compatable... a lot of people had an opinion and hopes but nothing directly from Ecotech.

Those of you with issues surrounding the Reeflink. I've been helping people with these units for years now and a popular issue in the U.S. by far is the internet provider. Your ISPs seem to change DNS and DCHP settings on a regular basis along with Firewall issues that you can't even see at the user level. I always try the basics and then suggest that the owner contacts ETM via their Zendesk service. The guys are normally able to pinpoint the issue and offer a fix. I've not heard of too many users going down this route that then continue to have issues. I have owned a Reeflink since just after they were released in the U.K. and it's never dropped it's connection. I can unplug it for weeks at a time and it always fires back up once it's plugged back in via cat5 or wifi...

Forums are a good place to vent but issues need to be logged and corrected or ETM will never know you have an issue.

Don't get me wrong this forum carries members that will work for ETM I have no doubt but it was run by Randy and now by Myself and we don't work for Ecotech. It's a users forum..

Please forgive me if I come across as rude or abrasive I apologise, but i'm just sooo sick and tired of this bull!.................Yet again we see the end user getting caught up in all the Bureaucratic Bull ! I am looking for a universally controllable pump which can also operate as a stand alone if required, I don't have a NEPTUNE system so what ever is going on between them and ECOTECH is irrelevant. They are actually forcing the end user to use their APP. and cloud based system which is sorely lacking at this point (its a joke! I sold my AI HYDRAS after one month for the same reason!!!) .I admit that thus far the L1's are working great but they cannot be fully integrated into any system which is very important (and desirable). Ecotech has obviously chosen to not cater for the aquarist who wants to develop and progress in the hobby because as we all know, the major components are required to work together within any advanved system! why is it after paying my hard earned money for a product which was promised to do this and other things I am hearing something else?! why is it soo difficult to get what I payed for?...........something that JUST WORKS!?

Sorry I'm confused. You are arguing the point that it's not Apex compatible and you don't have an Apex? The L1 and M1 can be calibrated manually without the need for a Reeflink or App and the Apex can actually turn the pumps on and off using the power bar basic settings.

It's also important that you understand that at No point did anyone from Ecotech directly quote or confirm that the Vectras would be Apex ready from the start or in the future. What you have seen is snippets of interviews with the interviewers comments sewn into them. Randy pointed this out towards the start of this thread.

Now if you purchased the pumps and you're looking to buy an Apex that I understand. But if we are ready between the lines it's possible that ETM are working on the Reeflinks capabilities and these could be enhanced to take on further options. The company already owns Nyos and already produces the pumps etc. that we already use so it's only fair to think that a brain can't be that far behind...

So maybe it's time to wait and see what's next... It's an option at least.

I don't need apex compatibility, I need a universal 1-10v input, and by the way switching the power constantly will eventually damage the controller/power supply. As for third party compatibility, they did say it would come later along with the functionality of the Aux port.

Proper lost now... Why call out Ecotech about not being Apex compatiable when that's not really your issue...

How often would you really need to pull the power anyway... maybe once a week for weekly cleaning and water changes but then the Vectra is able to be calibrated to run on a minimum flow so you can make it trickle and not actually stop... and just as a case in point the Vectra is actually made to be adjusted and turned down/off or they wouldn't have created the schedules and flow patterns that it's able to produce on a closed loop..

I fully aunderstand a buyer being upset that they read too much into a forum article or took a websites word for it when referring to Apex... But when spending that much money I would've been all over the web making sure I was buying the right bit of kit in the first place.

Look I'm not defending Ecotech, I don't need to they haven't actually said it would be Apex compatiable but at the same time I also understand that after such a successful partnership it's a shame it looks to have ende with the Vectra. The Radions including the Gen4 are still compatiable.

If u read my post properly you would see that this has nothing to do with Apex compatibility, it has to do with third party control, just like the way that GHL can control the wave makers wirelessly, if that's not an option a 10v port would have been a great option. Turning down from max to min is not turning OFF, cycling power will eventually damage the controller.I would also like to be able to have the flow adjust automatically as often as I choose , this is the point ! I must not be limited by what someone else decides!

I understand your posts... But this thread was all about the Vectra not being Apex ready... Your comments should really have a thread of their own to get some traction and other members commenting. They would be missed if they didn't want to read about Vectra/Apex issues.

Hope that makes sense.

I would like to do a couple of things with my Vectra...1. Feed mode coordinated with my Vectra so I'm not pulling everything into the overflow. Have you attempted manual programming without a reeflink? I have my Radions and my Vortechs on my WXM, it would be nice to have my Vectra. 3. A nice to have with my storm mode. But, it would be nice to vary the flow with my Vectra.

I get by the the food going into the sump. My fuge needs some of the nutrients anyway. But, I bought a $450 pump that I can't integrate. This destroys and not build my loyalty toward either. It makes me sit on the sidelines and wait for a competitor to rise to the top.

Wow, I shouldn't have typed that on my iPhone...hard to edit.

any news on compatibility of the vector models and apex?

Agree with the above I would almost be willing to put money on it never happening.. the gossip tree suggests a lot has been said over recent years to make it almost impossible.. Shame as it was working out very well.

Yep! Time for a Red Dragon RD3.

My RD3 150w works perfectly! It's fully integrated so it responds during feed mode and storm simulations! It is controlled via flow sensing or % output or on its own via the controller! This is the functionality I'm referring too.

Can you share how you are controlling via flow sensing? I have the 80w speedy and want to do just that. I know I will need the apex flow sensor. I already have the Royal Exclusiv module that connects to the variable speed port on the apex.
