Which sump are you using with it? I believe the E170 doesn't come with a sump, just a back compartment with the option to add an underneath sump.

I'm sorry that's what I meant the back compartment, I don't have a dedicated sump

The pump chamber on that should be 11.8x4.7x8" water height
The vectra S1 is 5.5x3.6x6
So in theory it should fit.

I think it's smaller, but I just realized I could probably measure the length and width of the media sponge. I'm not worried about heoght.

Those are the "pump chamber" dimensions for the optional sump, not the chamber that is located in the back of the tank.

Sorry about that I forgot to mention I had the sump upgrade on mine, yeah s1 should do great for that

There's about a 1/2 inch to 3/4 inch spacing in between. Seems to be working fine.

That will restrict water from the inlet. It will still work but you will be cutting back in efficiency.
