Velvet: Lengthy desperate cry for help

heres an additional brook guide to assist you OP

Good luck

Again, Thanks for your help, very much.

I swapped out 100 percent water. Couldn't wait any longer, that fish would have ended up like the others.

That cupramine must be too toxic in big jumps. I haven't tried any other types but I probably won't use that anymore.

The tang and clown look way way better. For now. Formalin is days out at best.

Would freshwater dips kill back the brook?
Or would they all pop and kill the fish?

Secondary. I will scrape the display and check again to see if velvet is present. I was almost certain before. Plus all the fish were powdered sugar covered. But not right now.

I learned a lot today.

"A 5 minute freshwater dip may provide temporary relief if you are unable to locate any of the aforementioned medications right away. Some even claim total eradication of the disease is possible just by performing multiple freshwater dips on the fish. Again, transfer the fish into a new/sterile QT following each freshwater dip to prevent reinfection."

Hat off to my wife today. Tried to help the tang while I was at work. She has never touched the tank in three years until today.

She swapped 50 percent.

I found some rid ich pro stuff that has formalin in it with M Greene treatment mixed.

Only thing I could find that had formalin in it. But it's only 11.5 percent.

I just got done with a 30 minute bath and 100 percent water change.

He is fighting like hell to upright. But I think it's too late. Hopeful but doubtful.

So following yesterday bath which was:

Rid ich Bath of 1 gal mixed with 5 ml (yes i know thats 10 times the dose on bottle), heavily aerated and bathed 30 minutes. Detailed instruction was per a very old Reef central post which seemed to be my best shot with what i have to work with.

Tang seemed to be suffering from what i think is negative buoyancy prior to the bath. and almost no change afterward.

Can lowering Salinity help my tang. It falls over on side, not head down, not tail up. I'm all out of ideas to help him.

It did show arguable minimal improvement imo as he tried to get away from my hand this morning.

Which it wasn't doing at all yesterday. I thought he was surely a goner (maybe still the case)

The swim pattern is uncontrolled (goes any which way no directional pattern.)

Or just euthanize?

Again, I really appreciate any help.

Found these in the makeshift filter I replaced after I dipped the tang yesterday.

Very fast swimmers in the open. 600x

Freshwater dips offer only Temporary relief to loosen up the mucus. Not close to a cure

Do not lower salinity. Hypo treatment is for parasites like ich or velvet
Increase oxygen with airstone if you havent done so already

So sorry to hea

condolences
I was about a month away from getting a larger system for them too.

Now not so sure. But still considering it. I wanted my first post on here being a new build thread, but ya.

Thank you everyone for taking the time to try help my fish. I learned my lesson.
