Velvet outbreak! Help!

An eating fish isnt usually a dead fish imo. Something toxic in the tank? Could the copper readins or amonia readings be misread?

They seem to me to be eating pretty good!

Are you sure ammonia is being kept at zero? What are you using to control it? Biological filtration or water changes? Eating fish (even sick ones) typically won't just suddenly up & die.

Yea we did notice they weren't really acting right yesterday but.. They were still eating. Maybe they weren't eating right!

Ok don't really get panicked all tanks having ich but it's depends how strong ur fish are anyways even with 72 day fallow no guarantees that no ich anymore any Coral u add any drop of water it will bring ich I had my tank fallow for some time when I put my purple tang he got ich :-/ so it's big debate.

Despite the name of this thread it was determined that the fish in question did not have ick. At least not alone.... velvet is in play here as well.

Usually if fish aren't tolerating copper well they will stop eating and act weird. For example, I once had a pygmy angel that made all the way through the 30 days of copper until she stopped eating started swimming backward and in tight circles. After removing her back to the LFS she started acting normally again and eating. I'm not sure what's happening with your fish at this point. Any new pictures of the ones that died - before they were dead of course.

Here is my copper level as of right now! Looks like o.5 to me.

Pretty darn close. Any pictures of the fish themselves? Of the fish that died before they died? Something that would lend a clue as to what happened to them?

What fish are remaining and give us an update, was it just the one clown left? How is it doing

They are pretty tough fish, be patient and follow the steps and youncan revuild nicley. I would say if you plan for new fish, once the goby is velvet free it would be a great idea to stock and treat your qt tank while you wait on fallow. It will allow you to repopulate the tank as soon as its disease free and help keep from reintroducing new disease

All you can do is keep him in copper for a month. Velvet is a devastating disease. I prefer to test & treat fish with ich, but my local Petco provides me with a steady stream of fish with velvet so I have a lot of experience with that particular disease. It took many failed attempts, but I finally figured out a protocol for velvet THAT WORKS: https://www.reef2reef.com/threads/velvet-amyloodinium-ocellatum.217570/#post-2499437

I've tested it dozens of times now on fish with varying degrees of velvet. Not all fish make it, but the majority do. :)

That protocol seems like a lot of work. Do I need to do that to any new fish I get. Funny bc most of the fish I have bough have came from Petco.
