Velvet Wiping Out My Tank

The midnight clown was in the copper tank by the way. The levels were at 0.5.

You've got a full therapeutic dose in the copper tank (which clowns can usually handle fairly well - sorry to hear of your continuing troubles!).

If the goby continues to refuse to enter the bottle trap, you may be forced to pull out the liverock in order to net the little guy out of there. (That's not terribly uncommon, either... though highly annoying.)

If you can, acclimate the goby fairly slowly to the copper tank. I've used a slow drip with an airstone running in the drip-bucket in the past when transferring fish to water with copper in it, with no issues. (Don't try this when receiving shipped fish!)

That was my fear. Pulling out all that live rock is going to be fun. It's he only choice now. I'll never use another bottle trap again. Not after my skunk cleaner. So drip acclimate him during the transfer. I have an air stone going in the copper tank so I'll use it for the acclimation. Thank you for the help through this Bruce.

I'm sorry for your loss. :( The clown likely would have died from suffocation or an infection. suffocation is most likely with velvet since it gathers in mass in the gills and the fish's body will send fluid to the gills to fight it off essentially blocking O2 from getting through. Again, I'm sorry.

Update:
My husband just caught our goby after pulling out all of our live rock. It looks like he has a temporary immunity as he has no symptoms of velvet. He is now in QT with therapeutic copper levels.
