Hey guys I need some help I’m pretty sure mt clown has velvet and so does my wrasse it’s not ick as it’s small dots covering the fins and body(I can’t get a decent enough picture)

what do I do I can do a freshwater dip but I only have acess to methaline blue and malachite green
Is there any way I can treat it in my tank
I’m in Canada and fish meds are restricted here I don’t wanna lose all my fish I only see it on the two atm
I also have a cleaner shrimp and peppermint shrimp as well as corals

When you get a chance, please upload some images for the more knowledgeable fish disease experts (it's hard to just go off a description sometime).

Not that it is velvet, but also being in Canada I did successfully treat a velvet outbreak in my tank last year with Polyp Lab Medic and an oversize UV. I lost 1/3 of my fish but managed to save the rest. Best of luck.

I just did a freshwater dip on everyone that were fish in the tank for 5 minutes not sure if it will help but it was worth a try
I’m in ns Canada so not sure if I would be able to get the meds in time
Does metroplex or prazi work for velvet

Hopefully Jay or Vetteguy will reply here. I am not the expert, I have done a lot of research and I did have Velvet and was able to save most of my fish but I used copper.

I can ask an other one of my lfs if I can use copper but I know the lfs I work at doesn’t have it
Can I use copper and a uv system to try and get rid of it or will the uv make the copper useless

also do freshwater dips help?

Also if I can get copper do I move all the fish to the tank with the copper and leave the inverts in the main tank and if so how long do I do that for

You can try this. Only need saltwater and peroxide and an extra couple of tanks (or even 5 gallon buckets) to do it.

Assuming you can't get copper this might be the easiest way.

No copper- this is brooklynella which mimics ich. Copper is not the treatment for brook
What separated brook from ich is the amount of slime around the face of the clowns and the hazy appearance to the skin
Formalin is the treatment of choice such as quick cure or ruby rally pro
Start with a 45 minute formalin bath or 90 minute ruby rally bath then treat in a quarantine setting
If you don’t have meds on hand…. A 5 minute FW dip will offer TEMPORARY relief

Other signs of brooklynella will be loss of appetite, lethargic behavior and heavy breathing

It is on my wrasse as well and I think my firefiah though I just couldn’t get a picture of them it was most pronounced on my clown

Also how do I treat in a qt setting
How would my clown and wrasse could have gotten it I’ve had my clowns for months now could the wrasse have brought it in even though he was in copper when I got him and went though multiple freshwater dips and treatment beforehand that’s why I thought it was velvet as it’s on the wrasse as well(looks like small dust on the wrasse)
