I thought this controller showed great promise, when they originally announced it back in 2011. While I'm sure it will do the job a lot of its components look completely outdated (power bar/multi bar, huge controller box).

I've never owned one of their products. What's the general quality from them?

So what they are saying is if you are smart enough to learn how to use the easiest programming commands to make your controller work better than the options you will be given here out of the box don't buy this product. Yeah ok, no problem. I enjoy ah ha moments a great deal.

I think the more controllers the better the hobby will be. We've been strangled by high prices from greedy companies for too long. (though this price is fairly high in fairness)

The retail price after this intro is 699. Thats crazy when you can get the new apex with all the probes and a screen/tablet for 850. NOT to mention the reliability and longevity apex name has after years of making aquarium controllers. This cerebra isn't even in the same league to me.

Ok let's examine this....Neptune released their new controller early to curb Vertex's potential consumers. Then later attempts to persuade current apex users to buy 3rd party tablets to use with their controller in an attempt to compete with the visual display of Vertex's. Neptune systems feels the threat from vertex which makes me more intrigued of this product.

Here you can read the reason as to why the release was halted: http://www.vertextechnologies.net/cerebra-release.html. It is a valid reason to halt the release.

That is a MSRP. That doesn't mean it will be that price after the release. Also, everyone is only making responses on limited information about the controller is worth. I understand apex has been doing it for years but look at Neptune's reaction to the Cerebral release. Their actions explain a lot. Something that isn't a threat shouldn't/wouldn't make a company change course so hastily.

That is right it is coming out at 374.99.

I think it looks promising... open source, based on android. I am looking at a Android TV and stereo for my car. It would be cool if they all can talk together. Being able top check on my tank in my car or get notifications if something went wrong with the tank.
It also is supposed to be super easy to program... The one flaw the apex has is it is hard to program for advanced programming. If you use basic function it aint bad but if you do not holy crap.

I am glad there is more competition in the controller market but that video looks like it was made 15 years ago.

I highly doubt Neptune is pushing the use of 3rd party tablets to compete with vertex's touch screen which looks awfully similar to they dosing pump housing. GHL has had a touch screen controller for a few years as well.

I am a old timer who often uses the old apex display rather than a tablet so I am actually looking forward to a interactive screen next to my tank. I have used a tablet with the apex but after each time there is always something glitchy. Last time I had to reboot my dosers after trying to hook up a wxm module, not sure why that would be.I think I am ready for something that is hopefully a little simpler.
