Wow your clams have great colors ! My only problem are my two blue spotted jaw fish, if a clam is under 2.5" they become instant decorations for their burrow.

On a side note, your second to last picture. Its a green base, blue tipped acropora - what species is it? At my store we had a local reefer give us a large colony of what looks to be the same coral. We keep ours under radions so colors is slightly different but structurally the same. Thank you in advance!!

Blue Spotted jaw fish are one of my favorite fish too... Very cool fish to watch, especially if they make a burrow where you can actually see them!

I'd keep these guys away from any sand, T. maxima definitely prefers hard substrate like live rock or the very course calcium reactor media we keep them on.

Thanks! I'm not sure, its been it captivity for over 7-8 years now, so it would likely be impossible to identify accurately. My best guess is that it came in looking like a A. tenuis. It's been sold and traded around the Michigan reef scene for a long time. I think Drs Foster and Smith even sold it for awhile. PM me if you would like the actual lineage.

Just curious how big is your tank? I love blue spotted jaws and would have two in a heart beat but have read that putting two togetbher is like putting 2 siamese fighting fish together haha

I have a 7' x 2' x 2' tank . I've been tring to breed them for several years now and found the key is getting them at the same time and building a bit of a peninsula in the middle of the tank at first and putting them on opposite sides of the tank. I've had 3 pairs where I've done this and no problems even in a standard 6' 125 gal.

Wow that's awesome, if you breed them successfully that would be insane! Definitely want to have a pair of blue spots later on when I get a bigger tank! Thanks and sorry for hijacking your thread brett!
