I would love to also. Can I do it with just a scope and help here? I feel like I need some sort of formal education to keep up with you guys. How much does the right scope cost?

It got knocked back a lot right at the start. Just recently started to come back but hasn't reached the thick mat level it started at.

It's certainly consuming something... lol

If its liking something in vibrant I wouldn't think its the acetic acid as I already dose quite a bit of that daily. Then there's the aminos which I've never dosed so maybe that. Then there's the "other" ingredient.

But overall the dosage of Vibrant is quite small. So, I'm leaning towards a shift around of dominate species in the tank. Cyano may end up being the winner.

I'm not worried. Cyano, IME, is easy to take care of especially with patience. I'm very curious with what is going on with the Amphidinium sp. The last sample I took with some in there the dinoflagelets did not look it's normal self. I wanted to look at a other sample last night but ran out of time.

Reminds of of the metronidazole dosing and what the Alexandrium sp. started to look like which was pushed back a lot to being not found the past few months.

Looks like a little less cyano tonight. 6th dose will go in tonight.

One thing I haven't seen recently are my sea urchins. I have 3 of them. Short spine, tuxedo, and pencil. But that's not saying much as they come out at night. But I normal see at least one of them periodically. I'll have to keep an eye out for them.

Ok...saying this is interesting is well very intersting.

I predict a further reduction in cyano over the next couple days. Based on what I'm seeing in this sample taken from the thickest mat I found

Cyano both looks thicker in spots but cut back as well. It's like a microbial war is going on in my tank. lol

This is from a thick mat and tried to only get the cyano which means I still got many other things with it.

I figured one of two things. Either breaking down or breaking down to spread. But I've seen them split to spread not fall apart like that.

Which either way, this would be a good time to add some mechanical filtration to help remove those broken down pieces.... which of course I'm not doing.

The cells in the middle of strands that are are becoming oblong are the cells that it shoots for reproduction.
Good idea to catch them.
I use DIY felt socks that work to catch small cells.

Yes that spot.
I think the tips you see may be the death of the end but there is still chloroplasts present.
Through my results the cells will loose the chloroplast upon cell death.
