Vibrant overdose

ok jumping in here.. I believed I just overdosed my system. I thought there was very little in the bottle.. grabbed the wrong bottle ... ouch... yep accidentally poured a bunch into my 600 gallon system last night.. My sps are now all losing their green colors.. my grafted green and red monit is now 100% orange-brown... a green ORA monti is not looking well.. will post pics in a second.. I can say it literally looks like they are getting less green before my eyes.....

It likely attacked the available phyto and zooxanthellae which give the coral its energy, color and vitality.
A major water change followed by close monitoring of nutrients will be warranted.

I figured I dosed. About a third to a 1/4 of the bottle. So like instead of 60. I dosed . 88 to 118 MLM for 600 gallons. I am kinda shocked it took such an aggressive reaction over night. It will take me a few days to make water to do a large water change.

I've been 2x to 4x dosing vibrant for about 2 month now bc of stubburn valonia fastigiata. Got some cyano that came and went. Valonia still around. Some gha too.

Either my nutrient is just super high thats making the regrowth fast and counteracting the vibrant, or the bacteria in the bottle is all dead....

Interestingly weekly no3/po4 levels has been between 0.5 to 3 ppm no3 and 0 to 50 ppb po4 so I know the algae is still absorbing them

Dosing regular dose of bacter7 too

Well if I lose some corals. Lesson learned. But hopefully I don’t and if I do hopefully it takes some algae with it. Strange how it really effected the green ones so quick. 30 years neve saw anything like this.

Even small ones will help

This was no small dose. Lol. It was an over dose. I totally messed up. Question is how to help the Sps survive now.

They are likely stressed than dying. They will need light and nutrients once vibrant reduced. It is made of AMINOS, VINEGAR AND BACTERIA
I would add carbon source such as chemipure blue or elite to assure no toxins are present or forming which it should not be

got it.. thanks.. that is what I thought.. I am running a bunch of carbon.. fresh carbon.. and the sps are holding up... some smooth skins have lost some branches.. others like the green monti species are now brown... polyps still green though..and standing out.. against the brown..

Well it’s been a few days and they remain at browned out. But hanging. Time will tell of they come back., to what colors, and how long it takes. TodY changing out 100 gallons.

Well this thread certainly makes me feel better. I accidentally dosed 5x the amount, splitting the 30ml I thought I needed for my 30 gal into two 15 ml doses. After pouring it in I thought it just didn’t seem right and re-read the instructions. <facepalm>.

I started making water right away, then looked it up. I‘ll be watching nutrient levels, but sounds like I should be fine.
