vic's 225 gallon inwall build thread

well ive been at it all week long, making RO water
only got a couple inches to go,im at 128 gallons .i cant believe how much the rock and sand displaces the water.

vic

finally got the tank full,152 gallons total water.
fired up the skimmer to see how it works.
the pump is amazing.silent and tons of power.i cant believe the ripple im getting on the surface, and no power heads.

thanks brett.im only using one return.i find with the rock the way it is the flow is just circulating around the whole tank.it was your idea to get the 7000, so give yourself a pat on the back bud.
on my 82 gallon im using a mp40 which will be going into this tank once i move stuff over.im also using a sea swirl, and im not getting this much current.
im lovin this as i may only need 1 mp40.
the skimmer is working just to polish the water a bit till i get something in the tank to get the cycle going, then ill be shutting her down. maybe run it for an hour per day.
need to mow the lawn then go to grocery store and get me a lobster

vic

I would eat the lobster and just toss a claw in there with some meat. A whole lobster seems excessive.

I hope you got some butter and lemons with that. MMMMMMM!!!!!

so its been 15 days since i added petey the lobster and ammonia has hit its high and now its almost at zero.nitrite is at its highest level.
my question is when should i turn the skimmer on,should i wait till nitrites are at zero ?
i ask this because im using dead rock,if i was using liverock i would have had the skimmer in operation already

thanks
