vic's 225 gallon inwall build thread

I think it would fine either way, just set it up to skim dry.

Not IMO. I do think your tanks gonna go through a little different cycle cause of the dry rock. It'll all catch up in the end though. I honestly dont think the skimmer will hurt, but at this point it really isnt needed either probably.

why not take a few small rocks from the new system, and put them into the mature tank's sump for a few days and then transfer them back to your big tank? no button polyps that way

its day 22
lastnight i was reading an old book by
ALF NILSEN and he has written that the breakin period is the most important method to perform,
in having a successful longterm reef.
i think so far ive done good in that department.
he also states that patience, patience, patience,is the most important.

ive always laughed when the shoe is on the other foot, and many i have setup.
now the shoe is on this foot and its killing me

today i put the background on and its totally removable

Patience, what's that? Lol. I'm on day 16 or 17 of cycle, just threw my flame angel, black clown, lawn mower, small sailfin, and pistol and goby pair in. I saw an octopus on the weekend and couldn't resist, I had to empty my cube into the big tank a bit early.

did you test your water before adding fish

I like the background Vic. Is it lit up or is that just ambient light?

Test yeah right lol. I used well cured live rock from the store and all my rock from the cube, so the cycle should have been minimal.

day 28 of cycle
my nitrites almost done, testkit reads .25
im almost there i figure i can start adding fish tomorrow or tonight.
i just turned my heater on to get 78 degrees

today ill hang one light fixture

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

dont know which fish to add first

purple tang
vlamangi tang
yellow tang
kole tang
percs
black clowns
multicolor angel
tomani tang
sailfin tang

ideally it would be nice to add them all at once,so they wont be as aggressive.
i know petey has put a good load on the tank so i shouldnt get a spike.

not sure what to do here.

I don't think I would mix the Tomini and the Kole. Same family, they will really fight.

Once your water params are good, I would add the clowns, then angel, the tangs I would add in pairs. Vlamangi/Kole, Sailfin/yellow, purple last.
