Vinyl tubing and barb fitting leak

So today I changed out one of my return lines to a new black vinyl tubing..... Issue is, no matter how tight I make the clamp, water drips out of the top of the tubing.....is there any kind of cement or glue I can use? Tia

If its not a fast drip and is over sump or can put towel down you can give lil not time and salt residue will build up and cause it stop leaking...may not be right way but without seeing whats going on it is an option

Its pretty fast and not over the sump....

may need to use a new barb. or a smaller hose. different brands arnt exactly the same size.

Maybe wrap the barb in teflon tape then put hose back on to make tighter seal..

Here is a pic. The drips are coming out of the top of the tubing. I'm thinking of putting a bead of crazy glue on the top of the tubing.

Btw right now I am only using one return pump....is this an issue? Only thing I am seeing is a raise in sump level....tia

Ya its a hard tube you can get a rubber seal to put in it to seal it or use rubber tape on the joint before putting the clamp on

Agreed. You're probably going to have a hard time getting a rigid tube to seal on a barb. You can try lowering the clamp. Not sure why it works but it does sometimes.

you can put a foam seal between the barb and the hose and tighten it down on that to stop the leaks. not sure where to get them as I just got them from work. but I stopped running hoses a while back. I preferred the reliability of PVC and hard plumbed everything. I just made mounts that mounted the pvc to the back of the stand and used foam to absorb any shaking or vibration and it was just as quiet as the tubing.

or buy the PVC flex tube it is like 40 bucks for 20 feet. and you can glue it together like PVC no leaks and less worry

I would have to redo all the fittings and bulkhead to do that.....don't want to go that direction unless I have to.

Can I put some silicone on the top of the vinyl ? Will it adhere to the vinyl and PVC barb fitting?

Actually all you would have to do is cut Above the barb put a female thread in then a male to female slip and glue in the PVC flex tube. If you ever have to remove just cut the flex unscrew the fitting replace fitting and then reglue the PVC. The best part PVC does not weaken like tubing after a while it gets hard and brittle

I was very limited on space so I didn't leave any room to cut PVC and change things around. If make any major changes, I will need to replace the bulkhead and start from scratch.

I'm thinking about trying silicone tubing....that may hold more snug and is really flexible

From the pic you have plenty it you cut right at the fitting the 2 fittings will be butted up to each other I'll get a pic of mine to show you. You only need 3/4 of an in for a good seal and you have that there

This black pipe looks like it is rigid to me. I'm referring to the clear flexible tubing that lowes/homedepot etc. carry. From the Pic below you can see most of the plumbing use vinyl tubing & barb connections, right at the pumps in/out & all other plumbing as well. You want flexible vinyl tubing on that barb. If you do clean the area in question with alchol and scuff up the surfaces, then apply silicon and wait 24 hrs if on intake to pump or 48 if on the output side. Another option is what I have done here. Note: At where the pvc barbed end is at the pump, the gap must be<1/2" or tubing will collapse.(plus use a metal clamp on that gap area only.)( see pic).

Thanks..... It is flexible.....more flexible than what they sell at the hardware store....maybe thats why its not sealing properly....
