Yup, running 100% blue/violet and 50% white/green/red.
Three years running now...
Your numbers are fine....it’s quite hard to make a mistake with this light.

Gorgeous tank man. You planning on fragging on corals?

I am running my Viper Spectra. Am I missing something? I have mine set to 80 blues, 1 white. When both are on it seems the white drowns out the blue. Maybe thats how its supposed to be.

Nope.

You have it reversed.

It is unmistakable the difference between white and blue.

No I mean, when I have my blues only on, its very blue, which is nice, but when I have my blues and whites on, I feel its not blue enough even if I only have my whites at 1 percent. I was just wondering if I had something set up wrong

I have two 300 watt viparspectra over my 125 gallon about 12” from water level. 60% blue and 60% white.

Steven, Once again, Wonderful tank. Amazing Moorish Idol. I definitely see it as an inspiration for my next tank.

Have you ever taken PAR readings off of your VIPARSPECTRAS?

Can you also share your tank dimensions?

And last question, what kind of substrate are you using? Crushed coral?

I'd be curious to try and match them. Results speak for themselves.

Hold on.

What is the tank size, especially depth?
I'm jumping in late on this one but the conversation is what I was looking for. I have a 90g that I got free from a friend. It is an odd dimension tank in that it is 62" long X 13" deep X 22" deep (surface to sand). I have always struggled with lighting. The light he gave me with it was very much underpowered. I ended up buying a Current USA Dual Pro 48" (not the newer IC but the old model) used on eBay. It worked well for a while but now one of the lights isn't working on half of it. I looked at Current and they have a new Pro model but the 48" with the support brackets would be over $500. I can't really justify spending a ton on Hydra 26's or the new 32's. It is a reef tank and I'd so mostly softies and LPS, but might throw in some SPS. Part of the light problem is that the rock work goes up about 13" so there is a good 9" of water from the surface to the upper most point. I just couldn't stack the rock any higher. I don't really need or use the features (weather, etc.) provided by the Current model (more or a cool thing but doesn't seem needed). The PAR on the new Current version doesn't seem good enough for my needs. So I was looking for options and this light keeps coming up. I would be looking at 2 of the 165w lights. So my long winded question to you is what are your thoughts on the light given what I am looking for. I can get these on Amazon for about $120 each. That's way better than $500 for the Current or way more than that for AI or Kessil. You seemed like a good person given you appear to be running these lights. Thanks for any advice you can give.

Hey, Marty.

With the tank being over 5 feet long, I would probably recommend 3 instead.

I do not have these lights, however, and am not an expert in LED lighting. I've just seen a lot of folks running them.

I would def do 3 I have 2 of the 165 watt ones on my std 75 gal tank that is 48” long. I am happy with the results I have gotten from

I also have two over a 48" 75g so I agree that three over a 62" tank would be appropriate. One other idea to consider is the spacing of the cross braces if it is a rimmed tank, because sometimes three lights can be awkward if there is just a single center brace.

I just bought 2-165W viparspectras off of amazon for $120 each. My tank is a 90g with the middle cross brace. Does anyone have any ideas on mounting them above the tank. I don't have any livestock yet just started the cycle Saturday morning. I'm a DIY type of person, I built my own basement sump system. Thinking about using black iron pipe but want to hide the cords somehow. Can I see your designs?

Congratulations on the new lights! I have (2) viparspectras over a 75g with a cross brace. Because it is in my fish room I haven't worried about aesthetics so I don't have any examples to show you. When I was researching the lights I do remember some mounting and cable management recommendations in YouTube videos about the viparspectras that may be helpful. Good luck!

I have 4 over my 90g with crossbrace. I used closet organizer rails.
