Virispectra 165w par

No the splash guard is not necessary I've been using 2 bloom specs for 2 years now I think it's easier to maintain because stuff can get on the other side of the splash guard and the only way to clean that is taking the unit apart
Are the viraspectras good for coral growth?

Very much so

Very much so
Have you had em?

I have one over my frag tank and it's growing everything. Good light for the money.

Planned on using Bloomspect units (99% same as VS) but ended up getting a great deal on different lights. Will use bloomspect that I have on frag tank when I get to that point.

I would use 2 over your 90G tank.
I’m buying a photon 32 v2+ 48” reefbreeder led instead. Thank you though!!

If your tank is standard 90G (48x18x24), Photon 32 may not be long enough. It is good for tanks up to 36" in length, so you will have dark sports in the 6" on each side of tank. May be an issue, depending on which corals you get and their placement.

48 would be great choice however, and would grow anything you want in that tank.

Oh, yeah! My bad, I meant the 48. Or I was thinking two AI primes initially. Then before I buy corals I will buy another AI Prime. Would two initially be enough for fish, then I will buy three? I would buy 2 AI Primes and I also have a crappy fluval light for additional light if needed, but I will buy another prime two weeks after. (That’s when I get paid, I’m 16)

Then I want sps so I will add another, eventually totaling to four. That won’t happens for a while though, but will I need 4 or 5 AIs for sps on a 90? Initially will 2 be ok, then like I said a couple weeks after I will buy another? There won’t be coral in it yet, so it should be fine?

I would just go with 48 if you can afford it. I dont know much about AI truth be told, but do know that they are pricey. No matter which model of AI's you get, odds are that they will be quite a bit more expensive in the end than 1 Photon v2+ 48 fixture.

Only thing I will add is this (seeing how you are 16, and probably dont have a lot of disposable income) Only thing you get with AI and Photon light fixtures over Viparspectra unit is extra features like WiFi control, more channels to play with and adjust, dawn/dusk/moon light, appex integration and so on. None of these features will grow your corals any better. They are for your enjoyment and ease of use, but corals dont care about them. For some they are must have features, and thats cool, but for others they are waste of money. Just something to keep in mind, thats all :)

I agree. I will only have to wait for two weeks for two of the AI’s, and a whole months saving just for the reef breeders. Honestly , this might sound bad, but I don’t care about how much it will cost in the end unless it’s like 1000 dollars. Thank you! I’m gonna see with some other people how many AIs I need for sps, but since I work at a pet store I will get some money off the AI’s, (which we don’t sell reefbreeders so they will cost more overall, and we do sell AIs so I can get a discount.)
