I have a tank 59 "x 23.5" x 20 "(length x height x depth) and use a Vortech MP40QD from about 2 months ago, but I have noticed that the opposite of the Vortech side the sand is more diatoms, which It makes me believe that the flow is not enough to move the other end well and avoid the accumulation of debris.

You think it's lack of good configuration Vortech Vortech or need another on the opposite side of the tank to generate a necessary flow?

I appreciate your comments because when I upload more the power of vortech some LPS feel they are not very agusto and do not open well their polyps, then do not know if with another Vortech across the tank and use them in a synchronized manner and at a slower speed will give me best benefits currently with only 1.

Or better buy a Gyre?

At least two pumps are usually required. The reach of the mp40 is about 24". Up to 36" with weak flow.

At 60", you're close to needing three.....let's say it would be better with three.

The MP40 has good flow for about 24" forward and okay for another 12" or so. You will want at least one more pump at the opposite side of your tank.

Ok I understand, I had no such information and effectively'm needing more movement.

Thanks for the feedback.

I had three on a 60" tank and even with return flow it wasn't enough in some spots. Positioning becomes key sometimes even with the amount of power heads. Two in this instance would be minimum I would say.

Ok, i will take the advice.

I don't know if adding a Gyre will solve the current situation, but will probably help at the very least.

A better option with the same idea in mind would be the Tunze 6150. It's stronger and will allow more flow options to eliminate dead spots than similar pumps.

But instead, I would at least consider switching to something different. There are a lot of good options.

Tunze's "classic" pumps are generally better in long tanks than these "wide flow" pumps, so I would consider some combination of these...with or without some wide flow pumps:

A pair of 6105's would really move some water in that tank and they come with alternate wide-flow nozzles to play with. At $285/ea I think this is one of best deals going. You will find that the flexible mounting options will be immensely useful.

Just for reference...

Tunze's Wide Flow Options
Turbelle® nanostream® 6020
Turbelle® nanostream® 6040
Turbelle® nanostream® 6095
Turbelle® stream 3 (aka 6150)

Can you post a full tank shot? It might be possible to make more specific recommendations! :)

Thanks for the answer, tomorrow afternoon upload a photo of my tank to observe.

I recommend you try another different vortech bomb? Or is it because I mentioned the Gyre?

I see "Reef Crest Version". Nice set up and tank.

The Vortech are located on two side of the tank, near the glass floor?

One on the left side glass towards the front of the tank one on the right side glass towards the back of the tank. And they are placed mid level of the tank

I understand, now I have other questions.

1- how up or down should place the vortech?

2- the area under the vortech that much movement is going to have?
