Back to my trusty tunze :D

First, if you haven't completely disassembled the wet side into its components, you should. Vinegar soaks are good for most cleanings, but if it's bad you'll want to be able to scrape things out manually.

Second, I hate to pile on but upon reading this post I can no longer resist.

For the money they charge, Vortech pumps should be better made. Keeping spare $93 wet sides around for your $500 pump is just ludicrous to me. (This thread is far from the only place I've read/seen of that practice.)

FWIW, I have two MP40w's that I keep in a box next to the tank (thinking of selling them, finally) and instead use a trio of Tunze 6045's (about the price of one MP40 wet side, each). A Tunze 6095 would be a better option if I wanted to get some wider flow going.

Regardless a fairly new pump shouldn't crap out at this price range. My koralias and tunze are low maintenance beasts.

What a fiasco this turned out to be. One month later and two RNA shipments the vortech can spin again. At least this helped be decide on using tunez on the new tank.
