I was wondering what type of anemone i should get and where you recommend getting it from? i have a 45 gallon all in one. has 6 fish and lots of coral and the tank in a year old. also using a reef breeders light, so light shouldn't be an issue.

We've had Long Tentacle, Sebae, and Bubble Tip and have had the most success with Bubble Tips; we currently have eight or nine! haha

I have a beautiful Long Tentacle that I'm trying to rehome right now.

If you have power heads I recommend covers...
This, my 1st anemone I didn't listen to the guy I bought it from and left powerhead uncovered. The very next morning the anemone was shriveled up in the powerhead... doh! I'd recommend buying/trading from a local reefer or lfs, I got mine from a local reefer by trading few coral frags for anemone. They are very delicate and probably have better chance of survival if bought local.

Particularly with such a small tank with lots of corals, I would be cautious. Anemones can and will move. And they will move when and where they want. This could be on top of your favorite coral.
As for what type to get if you have a clown and want to try hosting, look up the natural host for your type of clown.
I would stay away from carpets as they tend to get very large and have been known to eat fish.
Btas are generally the most forgiving, but they tend to split leading to space issues.

Florida Sunshine gave you good advise that should be listened to... Lots of corals means lots of stinging as they move... If your corrals are encrusted on the rock or glued down moving will not work... Just death from stinging....

do you have a picture of the anemone? and would you ship it?

i have my power head wrapped in filter right now

It could just something 'off' with my tank, but I couldn't get it to attach it's foot to anything.
I'd be leary to have you start with a stubborn one...

For a tank that size with a bunch of corals I would have to recommend a bubble tip or rock flowers. Are you looking for it to host clowns? Most anemones are going to crawl over everything until they find a happy place and they tend to get large. Probably too big for a 45g AIO.

I believe its doable as long as there are plenty of other corals nearby to keep it in check, but eventually RBTA's can split and overtake a tank unless u are prepared to rehome recently split anemones. Inappropriate reefer did it in a 45AIO as did others. Just feed once/month and anemone wont' split too often.

Here's my 2 that are near mushroom/softies and hasn't bothered/moved since day 1, 93 cube

I like the long tentacle they tend to stay to the bottom and wedge themselves in. In my opinion I think there are more durable and easier to keep. But I’ve had the most success with pairing it with a clown. I have two, one for each clown. My Spot didn’t let my Percula in, so I got him one. It’s the blue long tentacle.

Wow that’s beautiful!

Had a hatian nem and he wouldn’t stay still got rid of him. Now I have a long tentacle new and he’s been good. Has moved but only a few inches. The way the tentacles sway in the water is relaxing!

Rock flowers are colorful, relitvely small, and tend to stay put. They will host shrimp and crabs but not fish. Here's some of mine, since your thread dosent have pics of them yet.
The other that comes to mind for the tank size is a minimaxi carpet, there are some really nice colors of those too and they stay small but they are also agressive eaters. They will also host shrimp or crabs. I've had the green flower nem for about 3yrs since the second month my tank was running btw so I can say that they seem to be quite resilient (I wouldn't recommend adding that early tho, I listened to my lfs as a noob)

Any other nem I can think of has a potential to get large, not to say you can't have one just prepare to maybe re-home some coral.
Of the larger nems A sand dwelling, like a long tentacle might be less likely to roam since they generally just burry their foot into a dsb, stay in place, and generally don't split like bubble tips are known to.
If you don't mind the roaming, stinging, and splitting bubble tips are one of the more resilant species ime.
