WARNING: Avoid latest AOS updates!

My Apex A3 is 17 months old. The PH, Temp, and DOS are not displaying. It seems like some things are working though. My Trident stopped working although it is showing parameters, but they are from the 2nd and have zero output logs until yesterday and they are odd. The skimmer does not turn off and I never get logs for the heater. This has all happend right after it came back up when I updated on the 2nd. Emailing with Neptune they are saying it's hardware related and I am waiting to see what my options are on a fix/repair. I'll update when I find out. I'm 100% sure that if I did not do the update my system would be fine.

On the EB8 the Plank feeder is not working and my cabinet light is constantly on eventhough I can hear the outlet click like it is turning off when the switch is closed. I am also getting an alarm that I have turned off.

No, they have not made any statement as of yet.

To be fair, source of the issue has not yet been identified, so I don't expect they will make a statement until a complete statement can be made.
Really? I’d expect - and I do want - them to say they see the reports and are looking into it and will provide an update in x days. And describe the testing they’ve already done. And advise if these updates are safe.

That is the minimum we’d expect from anyone…

What I’ve noticed in the past is that missing data/graphs/logs is the faulty sd card issue. Not every single case, but a high enough percentage to gamble. A new card is $10+/-.

I'll try that when I get home - thanks.

I am so over and done with Apex. I now have my THIRD replacement unit and only two weeks in and it's a piece of junk now too.
Customer service is a joke. Played off a Playlist.

They will be sending another replacement. I will be selling it or throwing it in the trash.

If you want, you could put it in my trash can! Ha

The fact that all of these are happening at the same exact time suggests that the head unit restarts itself.

So here’s another post about this and it’s with a new dos qd… I’m feeling better about my old ones and thinking the new dos units might be at fault here!

Quickly reading through, it does seem to be the same bug.

I would agree, but, in this case... It's still logging for everything, including the other dosing head. I don't think we can pin this on the sd card, unfortunately.

Mine is an older DOS as well. I haven't had time to do anything with it since it happened. I just unplugged the 1link and left it sitting.
Can you share more information with me about your specific situation?

Do you have a Neptune support ticket?
What version of AOS did you have installed when this happened?
Can you add me to your APEX (my username is JoeC)?

I had this happen with an update last year. They said it was hardware and needed replacing. Completely ignired the fact it was working before the update.

I promise the fact that it was working before the update was not ignored.

SD card failures virtually always become visible *because of* an update.

Your card was most likely bad for weeks/months leading up to that update, and once the update tried to write new files to the card, things go haywire.

reminds me of when apple proactively made sure their batteries dont suck by slowing your iphone to a crawl.

perhaps its a new feature call ireplace

that a valid possibility - should we be proactively replacing these cards after set amount of time?

Not exactly on topic here, but what Apple did was the equivalent of limiting the horsepower/torque on your car when it detects you have bald tires, which I think anyone would agree is the objectively safer thing to do.

not-on-topic notwithstanding but apple produced these tires and they got bald after only few miles.

Proactively? No. A good card is a good card. And the cards shouldn't just go bad for no reason.

I have an A1 Apex from YEARRS ago with the same SD card. I also have a newer pro that had the SD card go bad almost right away. Seems like some cards just kinda suck these days... We've been a lot more rigorous these days on the SD card selection because of it.

not-on-topic not withstanding but apple produced these tires and they got bald after only few miles.
Eh, I'll agree the iPhone 6 and 7's batteries weren't great, but they weren't that bad.

I'm not a particularly heavy mobile phone user, so my battery cycle counts stay low, and I never had major throttling issues with my 6/7 series. I still have my iPhone 7 to this day, I use it for development.

Okay, that's the last Apple post for now :) Let's fix these DOS issues...
