Watchguy's SPS Addiction (photo intense)

Beautiful collection.
What kind of lighting, placement do you have on the Garg Bonzai? I can't get mine to color up.
Thanks,
Eric

Interesting you should ask, because I was just reading a thread where most people seem to keep their garf bonzai around mid level. However, I keep mine really high. I liked the spot and just glued the frag down and the picture is how it turned out two years later. Maybe it would have been even more deep purple lower down, I don't know. I really think that each tank is somewhat unique as to chemistry, lighting, flow and so some frags find happy spots and others do not.

I know. I have read the same thing many times about the Garf. I agree also that each tank is different. I will keep my fingers crossed that mine will come around. Might still need some time. Beautiful collection you have. Best of luck.

A couple of different colored acros

this is a small frag I recently got from a colleague, reef raft something--its dark green blue tips and yellow at the very tip--hope it turns out to be interesting. Next to it (on the right) is the scc planet earth.

Red convexa and it blows my mind every time Its a beautiful red. The only issue is that when I trimmed it, it sent out crazy multibranching and I liked its previous branching pattern better. I assume the branching and fusing is a defense mechanism to make it bulkier and stronger and more resistant to storm surges or in this case, bone cutters.

And now, a couple of purple examples.

Purple stylo

Purple Monster

Some more pics:

This came from a local fellow reefer, the same one that I got the CITR red dragon from. He seems to be well connected because his tank has the latest, greatest coral. This was about a 1/4 inch frag, I kid you not. The smallest frag that I have ever purchased but it is really growing fast. Not super colorful yet but growing, it is the tyree Mr. Pacman.

i too have this coral. my question is species? a.wadinii? i dont care for the latest and greatest, however i like new to me species.

I have great difficulty identifying and differentiating most of the acropora species, but I believe it could be a. echinata, or a. speciosa but it really does not look like the a. walindii in my opinion. I assume the A. Wadinii you are referring to is a typo.

Here is an update on that frag, Mr. Pacman

Drool.............every time I open this thread.

Man oh man I need me some sps like this! HA!

Wild colony that I have had for some time, orange polyps and blue tips--its crazy

Not yet famous prostrate--I let a friend talk me into fragging a piece for him. Look at all the different colors in that thing!

A no namer I got from Leo Chen a while ago--I love the irridescent colors. And yes that is really what the colors look like

Nick's Bubble gum Millie--as usual half the colony is happy and the other half isn't. You can see the unhappy half in the background

Mr. Pacman, does not have that great body color that I've seen on some pics but maybe as it gets bigger, who knows

metallic/sapphire millie

I think this is the lightning horrid

Good ol "joe the coral"

ice fire echinata, atleast one of the many versions floating around. This is a really slow grower but has a very cool white body

A very cool acro, I am hoping these polyps turn out red which is what I am counting on.

Cousin of strawberry shortcake--cause they kind of look similar like cousins

glow in the dark--I think it is a carolinia (sp?)

and two different bubble gum millies--gotta love that red with blue tips

and the second

Last of the pictures from the other day

Bright green flourescent acro

Blue tennis

Baby blue echinata in front of my bright flourescent pink millie (may move the echinata somewhere else in the tank)

And the last of the series

i would love to see the shots taking from the regular iphone instead and no photoshop mark up.

I never understand people like you. How would an iphone photo be anymore realistic? If anything that's the worst photo to compare to anything.
