Hello Reefers,

I have a 100 gallong system roughly, 50 gallon DT, 25 FT and 20 Sump.

So my question for everyone is , I have a “
Aquatic Life Twist-In 100 GPD 4-Stage RO/DI System”, and i fill 5 gallon dispenser bottles for my rodi water,

So for me to fill one 5 gallon, I am loosing 25 gallons of water water, it takes an hour to fill 5 gallon ?? Filter cartridges are only 2 months old and clean.

My water bill went up alot??

Opinion??? What should i do?

What do you do with the spare water? Maybe try the aquatic life buddy booster . I was losing about 10g to fill 3g after I fill up 3g for about 5g waste water

Man that is a lot of waste. Can you try pushing more psi through the system? i have seen that help reduce waste.

This is a guess. I think you have your waste water line swapped with your clean water line.
My water bill is usually around 40-50 every month. When I filled my 200 gal system it only went up 8 dollars. That was last November. This May for some crazy reason I got my bill and it was 103 for no reason. Call the water dept and they checked the meter, said everything is good. The following month bill went back to normal. Still haven't figured out what happened. Good luck

Something’s really off. I have the same rodi and I fill a 50gallon and a 28gallon. Twice a week I fill 2 5 gallon buckets for top off and my water bill at its highest is $90.00 a month.

100gpd = 100g/24h = 4.16g/hr, so 5g/hr isn't doing too bad.

Those ratings are given for ideal temperatures and pressures, and that waste ratio seems about right, I've always assumed 4g lost to 1g made. As I understand the loss is at the RO membrane, so the condition of the other stages doesn't much impact the waste amount. Sounds to me like your RODI system is working about as intended.

How are you billed? As in, is that increase a monthly or quarterly increase? Around me billing is quarterly.

How do I increase psi?

I saw the smart buddy pump but its $150 I believe?

Is it worth it?

I heard good things about this rodi so got it,

As others have said you can add a booster pump if you don't currently have one. Also a switch to the 75GPD membrane and add a water saver kit to add a 2nd 75GPD membrane.
Whats a water saver kit

Would suspect you hi/lo auto shut off is not turning unit off, or sometimes not

I talked with the guys at Aquatic Life and the Smart Buddy pump will not work with the Twist-In rodi unit.
It will work perfectly fine but you have to separate the unit and space your filters farther apart. The reason it won't work right out of the box is because of the way the lines run in and out of the booster pump. This is what I did and it works perfect. Hopefully I explained it good enough.

So I have a regular booster pump that was in use at one time for a reptile misting system. If I spaced my filters apart where would I place it?

Sorry to hijack the thread a bit.

It sounds like a totally different type of booster pump. The smart buddy has 3 lines that go in and 3 that come out.

How much water are you making a month? Your water must be very expensive I do not think I have ever had a $200 total water bill. I would be looking for a water leak.
