I do 10 percent weekley on a 90 with 40g sump, though i will be reducing it to bi weekly i think. This is my only phosphate and nitrate control. I used to use gfo but found it too harsh

I have a 60 gallon and I try and do about a 10% change each week. WC aren't that expensive (unless your tank is big lol) and it doesn't hurt.

Depends on how lazy i am. But ive ben doing water changes weekly since last summer. Mix up 30 gallons friday, 20 gallon change mid day for my 120, 5 gallon change for my 30 gallon, about 5 gallons leftover in a bucket for the week to makeup for skimming/testing ect
