Water changes for you guys with big tanks

300g. I have 2 44g brute trash cans. I'll do roughly 80g water change every 2 months. I use the python for my waterchanges.

I forgot the water change part of the question. 20 gal weekly on the large system, 5 gal weekly on the QT and softie tank

I balance out and stabilize the tank with macro algae and use the improved diy two part system.

250gal total system. I change 20gals every Sunday, which ends up being Roughly 32%/monthly.

I have 2-55gal drums for saltwater(110gals total), and 2-55gal drums for RODI(110gals total).

For you guys that keep saltwater on hand, do you keep them circulating and heated? I know this sounds like a dumb question but have you had any issues keeping saltwater in the tank long term(few weeks or more) without it fouling?

I have ~1700 gallons of water in my system and I maintain 200 gallons of RO/DI water on hand stored in 2x100 gallon HDPE tanks. I do monthly 200 gallon water changes with a 200gpd RO/DI unit. I have been considering adding an additional 200 gallons of water storage for emergencies. I have my return pump plumbed into my house sewer drains so I pump out directly with the turn of a couple of valves without needing hoses or buckets for water changes.

I find no need to keep salt water. Just rodi. I mix salt before needing it.

Mine is not circulated or heated! Stays around 70F though.

I keep two 44 gallon brute trash cans full of saltwater. I have a 220 gallon system, 65 gallon system and two QT tanks.

I have (2) 55g containers. One for fresh and one for salt. The freshwater container stays full for top off water. I turn 2 valves and fill the SW side. Then I turn another after the salt is mixed and it goes straight into the sump. The only manual thing is adding the salt to the container and then removing the water from the tank that I am going to replace. I try to change 55g a week out of my 400g.

I haven't had any issues long term not circulating if it's sealed up. Only problems ive had are when there's big temp swings between the water and environment around can. Usually happens when cold and I leave the heater inside the can on

I have my apex turn on my mix pump for 5mins every hour for my saltwater drums. I do not keep it heated all week. I turn on the heater the night before my water change.

There must be something wrong with me. I actually like doing water changes. About 40g a week in a 240g total system. 2 44 gallon containers on hand. 1 rodi. 1 saltwater.

I have a 300 gallon tank. I went with a system based on 3 44 gallon brute trash cans. Can one is RODI water and only RODI water. Can 2 is saltwater. Can 3 is to remove water from the display tank. All cans are on casters and I have tiled floors.

I roll the saltwater can and empty can to the display tank. I drain out about 40 gallons Using a siphon. I then pump in 40 gallons using a max pump. I roll the discard water to the sink and pump it down the drain using the pump. I rinse out both cans with RODI. I roll the saltwater can over to the RODI can and pump in the RODI, I add salt and turn on the powerheads. It only takes a few hours to mix but I will not use it till the next day. I set my RODI system to fill my RODI can. It will fill in about 12 hours.

If I had it to do over, I would have gone with 55 gallon cans. Of course, I could add a can, so that I would have 2 cans mixed for a total change of 80 gallons.

I change about 20gals every 2 weeks on my 180. I have a hose that runs from my mixing station to the tank. I drain water into a brute on wheels. I keep 100gals on hand just in case.

210 gal aquarium. 30gal water changes every two weeks. I have two 65 gal water containers one filled with 65 gal RO. I transfer 30 gal to the other container to mix.

I have a 120g cube. Typically, I do a 10% change every week with an occasional 30% to 50% change every couple of months. It seems to work quite well, as I've got a primarily coral-stocked tank that's light on the fish.

I have a 250g or so with sump minus rock. I have a hard plumbed system hooked to two brute 32 gallon containers. I have done every two weeks, but I have found everything likes weekly changes better, so I do about 30 a week. Eventually I'll do a dos to the frag tank as well, but haven't gotten there yet. I also do weekly rox carbon changes and lately gfo. I started dosing the balling part c, hoping to lower my water changes, but the pe that shows with my weekly changes has convinced me to stick with weekly. Granted the tank is only a year old, so that may change over time.

270 gal tank plus sump here. I use a 275 gal poly tote to store saltwater. I don't always keep it full though and usually make a trip to pick up some water when I get down to around 75 gallons on hand (I use NSW). I keep it circulating and use heaters in the winter.
Before that I just used a 44 gallon brute can or 2 to make and store saltwater.
Water changes are around 40 gallons a week.
